Default Still can't launch.. so close to 12's

I now have the 9" installed and a twin disc clutch and a new set of nittos.... Although my previous 60' times were like 2.2's with the occasional 2.1 I now am seeing about 2.0x consistently with a few dips into the 1.9x's. I'm running low 13.2's at 107.6x

In my mind the car has it in it to go 12's but I can't seem to figure out what I'm doing wrong.

How do you guys launch with 4.11's on nittos? I heat them up for about 4-8 seconds or so and try launching around 2k (bog big time), 3k (1.97), 3.5k (wheel hop), 4k (spinning). I pretty much dump the clutch.

Should you bring the clutch up right to the point of engagement and then drop it on the 3rd yellow or slip it (even though I can't seem to do that fast enough without doing a full force granny start)

damn I'm getting frustrated with the starts...

instead of dumping it or just side stepping it, keep your foot on the pedal but bring it up as fast as you can as long as your foot is on it. worked for me i went from 2.4 to 2.09 60' times even though that still sux but i don't have any good tires so i know its a hopeless battle for me..

One suggestion , get a good set of tires , M/T ET streets or drags. you have a 9in I dont think you will have a problem with breakage.

Wheel hop breaks ****.

ET Streets will absorb it. At least for me.

You want the clutch to come out in the first 6 feet. Don't drop it.

Set RPM by ear. Practice closing your eyes and setting the RPM. If you are looking at the tach on launch, you are working too hard.

When heating Nittos, get them a little wet, pull just outta the water, and heat them until they "pull down". You will feel them start to bog the motor slightly. About 15psi.

I had to stop using Nitto's due to wheelhop though. I was not willing to break stuff to save $$$ on tires. Don't dance in hiking boots. I love Nitto's for the street, but for the strip in an M6, ET's.

when i run drag radials i rev up to about 4500 then bring the clutch as far out as possible when i feel it want to start to pull the car.then slip clutch.usually results in high 1.8's or low1.9 60fts.not great but ok and not hard on parts.

Talking YOu are doing something wrong

My 60' times with 245/50/16 stock tires, with about 40% thread left was a 1.944, and that's with 26 psi, and a 5-6 second burnout. Revved up to about 3500 and pretty much dumped the clutch, and no traction problems whatsoever. I ran a 13.22 @ 105.65 (the trap speed seems kinda low).
You just gotta keep practicing. My worst 60' times are aruond 2.10.

wow I got the same problem as you man. I recently ran a 13.000000000@108 I still got the stock clutch and any other runs resulted in a slower time. How you like the twin disc set-up? Can you slip that clutch or does it just slam? I got BFG's and they dont do me **** 1.990 was the quickest so far. ET Streets one the way.

well.. I am running the tires at 15 psi and it seemed that 3k to 3300 was about the highest I could go without spin. I was hoping for like 4500 to really get off the line with no bogging or spinning. I guess I have not tried side-stepping and I'm not really sure what that means (or how to successfully do it at least). The twin disc will grab and not let go that's for sure.

Wheelhop was pretty rare that night but the only thing I haven't swaped out is the torque arm... all else bmr or spohn with poly bushings.

It might be that I'm just rolling through the water and then doing my burnout in the box.. maybe I should pull up a bit more and then do the burnout so I'm not dripping any excess water... (probably should do that anyway I guess but no one there seems to do that for some reason @ NYIRP)

Street tires got me 2.2's - 2.3's, Nitto Drags got me 1.98's to 2.1's, I'm affraid that ET streets will only get me like 1.85's and I'll be out that money when some guys seem to pull that on street tires.... guess I just need to treat every red light like I'm at the track and see how to do it.
