Default Heavy Car + Skinnies= What Tires

I have a possible 4k plus car and I have a set of Draglites. With the weight what kind of tire can I run that will support the weight, and won't have the car looking like its about to be on a flat? Also looking for something with some white letters.
Thanks in advance.

If you decide on the MT sportsman fronts, make sure to get 8-ply rated for heavier cars: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mtt-1573/overview/

Might not have a choice, may have to go with these. Kind of wanted something with the white letters up front cause I'm thinking of going with QTP's.

We are running plenty of 5th Gen Camaros and CTS-V's on M&H Racemaster fronts (usually the 185/55/17 or 185/50/18) with no issues at all. They also make a 185/75/15 version.

Is your car actually 4000 lbs? Did you weigh it? What did you do to it to make it 4000 lbs?

I only ask because I used to have a 99 ws6 (the heaviest f bod besides a vert) with nothing taken out and the 17" wheels on, half tank of gas and a full nitrous bottle. With me at 250 lbs the car came in at 3830 on a set of chassis scaling scales and not a truck stop.

We also have a friend with a ws6 and he put on a Modular turbo/CBR performance twin turbo kit, 4l80e, and an s60 rear. With water and ice (about 5 gallons) in the intercooler and driver the car weighed 4185.

I just find it hard to come in at 4000 if you didn't add a bunch of things to the car.

Unless you have a GTO or a 5th gen camaro then I can really see the 4k mark coming easy.

Last time the car was on the scale.
H/C/I 10bolt few suspension parts, stealth box in the back for 1 10inch woofer and a couple amps. Car weight 3800lbs.

Well at 3670 in a buddy's camaro we used Hoosier front runners with no issue. They are very light for weight savings. Wouldn't recommend them for street use though.

They hardly have any tread to them. If you get caught in the rain you are not going to stop very well. if you are going to use them to mostly race and not much steet use then you will be ok

Gotcha thanks, the car will be on the street more then track. So yeah your right that isn't a good choice. May just have to go with the M/T.

ya you said draglights so 15s. there no other real radial for puting miles on them street driving. they have them for 17s now and thatrs really cool. I htink thats what Mike runs on ther shop cam5. 17 RTSs
2stroke got the nice SR rims and I would get them (im going to) over the sportman 8plys. The cheap VW tires suck my cars super light and they still bludge with 45psi in them and ther small. I want 26"

I have MT 8 ply sportsman fronts on my BBC car (front heavy) and they look/work great. Had ET Fronts (bias ply-white letter tire) before but they never looked aired up enough.

I drive my car on the street a bunch (when there isnt two friggin feet of snow up here). I used to run MT S/R radial fronts with drag radials on the rear. Even with 40lbs in them, they looked half-flat. When I converted to bias plys in the rear, I tried the MT 8ply fronts. Night and day difference. At 35lbs they look perfect. They handle and stop just fine, and there's no noticable road noise.
I was always worried about how a hard stop would have affected the SR's when they looked like the sidewall was so soft. I'm happy with how the car looks/drives now.

I bought mine at a local speed shop I use, but you can get them from pretty much anywhere. Summit, Jegs, I'd even look into Jim's Racing Tires, he has killer prices as well.
