Default finally some TRex times 11.22@121.86

after weeks of waiting on some non rainy weather i got a small window of opportunity tonight which i had to take after seeing coach go 10's with the cam. we more or less raced around the weather. the track was hooking fairly well but it was extremely hot and humid tonight. not sure what the da was but it wasnt good to say the least.

1st run took it easy make sure everything was going to hold and it went 11.56@120 with a 1.63 60'. i was supprised it did that well

after a few runs of workin my way down i had 4 runs in the 11.2's
11.262@121.18 w/1.505 60'
11.256@121.57 w/1.534 60'
11.248@121.63 w/1.520 60'
11.228@121.86 w/1.513 60'

this was launching between 5800-6000.
my last 2 passes i tried to go up to 6200-6300 but it blasted the tires

these runs are on stock springs, stock shocks, stock sway bar and no air bag.
it felt really good to get it to go these time in this horrible weather.
the car is still around 3450lbs. and my favorite part was the 1.50 60' pulled both tires almost a foot off the ground. it definatly is ready for shocks and a air bag.
as you can tell im thrilled
Rodney.

looks like DA was around +1200 feet give or take some throughout the night. Very nice times Rodney. There is more there with some practice and way more in weight reduction and air. If your car was at 3100 lbs you would be in 10.9s in 1200 ft DA.

Now...what do you think your doing. Don't you know that the t-rex cam is way too peaky to run well in a 6 speed car. Your shift extensions are way to far apart to be able to use that cam. Plus with that "where’s the torque" torque curve you can't possibly 60' like that. Also, that cars way too heavy to be able to get out of the hole with such "low" torque. Good thing you weren't in a street race with lesser camed cars...that 121 mph would get your *** handed to you in a second.

Very nice man

Rodney, excellent times for the weather and your first time out! I think you can squeeze a 10.9x out easily in some cooler air. Nice job man!

You are making me get excited to get my car back out to the track. Tranny parts showed up today. I'll be bring them to Allan this week.

yea, i hear ya on those comments. they were kina off
i think that with some hals, swaybar and air bag i can launch a lil harder and get some better 60's like 1.45's. the 11.22 was still hot and daylight. but the car was somewhat cooled down. if it would have been that cool on my last few runs after dark it would have went teens but i was hotlaping it. it should go low teens or 11.0x still at 3400lbs with better weather and suspension i hope.

Yea, its funny how all that "theory racing' and "racing on paper" doesn't seem to always match what reality and track times are. But I guess its fun to talk about.

Good luck on the better weather, I think we only have worse on the way. Racing in the hot La. air SUCKS.

i also logged a few runs on a-tap i was not using the right shift pill so i was kinda guessing. i wanted to shift at 7200 but i was shifting on average at 6900-7000 acording to the playback. and shift extensions only droped to the 5400 range. not to bad.

Very cool Rodney! 11.20's at 3400 SWEET!

The T-Rex cam sure seems to be running well at the track.

What is your timing set at? Down low and at WOT?

Our mph(121) are about the same. I still hit the 7000 rev limter about 20 feet from the finish line. That is being fixed today along with some more tuning. We will see if I can improve the performance of this cam this weekend.

Congrats again & Good luck to ya Rodney. When are ya going back to the track?

Congrats those are some realy great times for a heavy car. I figured 11.4's were obtainable. Great gear banging.

this is kinda funny. 3400 lbs raceweight Trans Am is considered "Heavy"

Coach, the wot timing is at 30* ill have to check on the down low.
my shift light is just barley coming on at the traps which is only at 6600. so i still have some room to go a lil faster without worries. i want to cross at about 7000. but that will all change when i finish the suspension and get into the 1.4's
ill probably go to the track in a few weeks when we bring jasons car out for a trial run. i hope to make a few changes by then.
overall i was supprised considering the weather, must have been those horrible torque numbers.
when you coming down to thunder coach.
thanks for all the congrats guys
Rodney.

honestly John, it was 3550 last time i weighed it. all i took out was bumper supports and seat which is 19lbs 21lbs and 33lbs. so im really still around3475 to be more precise. damn these cars are heavy, everytime you find something to take out and go faster you are required to add something else.

I know how you feel man..I give up 80 lbs in the block and 20 lbs in the gas take alone to the ls1 racers. Trying to get an lt1 light and still have a resemblance of a car is hard. I was 3430 at the spring break shootout and I've taken out way more than you I believe.

you know..acorting to paper racing if you were at the same weight at the current cam only 6 speed you would have took the record in worse air....pretty cool for a "non torque: cam.

I will back to Thunder Racing as soon as they finish my new motor. I hope that will be real soon. If it takes any longer I maybe to old to drive.
