Default kmember swap without dropping motor?

Is it possible? How hard would it be?

It's not that hard, I did mine that way. I just braced the motor under the oil pan and possibly one under the crank balancer, unbolted the old k-member and motor mounts and dropped it out from underneath. The hardest part is getting the motor mounts to line back up when you're going back in.

I just did mine and did not take out the motor. I used a block of wood under the oil pan. Lowered the old k member out with a jack.

You can definitely swap the k-member without removing the motor. It is actually relatively easy, just make sure the motor is well supported.

I have done it this way also. I have actually also used an old strut tower brace to hold the motor up too.

Look at post 310 in my build. It shows the brackets I made to support the engine and enables you to drop the K member.

head over to harbor freight. they have a motor support tool. It goes from strut tower to strut tower. Works perfect and when you install the new k member you can adjust the angle of the motor to get the holes to line up. Here is the link.

A block under the pan is a poor idea for two reasons: It's in the way and you risk breaking the pan. Supporting the the engine from above is the way to go.

I used this and it worked like a charm. I didn't really trust the chains it came with, so I picked up some beefier chains just in case. This specific project was installing a BMR k-member and replacing the oil pan gasket. Therefore, using a block of wood under the motor wasn't an option for me.

I just did the kmember swap and used the block of wood/jack to support the motor during the swap. No problems. With the jack make sure you have room to lift and lower the motor on the jack to get the motor mounts lined up. I also used the instructions from the BMR website albiet I was installing the standard turbo kmember and not their newer one that the instructions are meant for. Just be patient and it's not so bad. So much room for activities
