Good question. It's just as easy to make a 454 CI LS1 as it is to make a 422 CI LS1.

Sounds like we will all need John's Ls1 intake to compete in the allout classes! I know that he makes an Ls1 intake(sheetmetal) that will be allowed as it of the stock configuration. Just wondering why a sheetmatel intake is allowed? not trying to start anything just wondering the reason behind this rule as some will have an advantage if they can afford the intake. Does anyone make an LT1 sheetmetal intake in the factory type design?

Happy racing, you can send one up if you like John

Colonel... You're right it is just as easy on a LS1. But... on 1st and 2nd gen smallblocks it ain't. After 437cid a 1st and 2nd gen block gets labor intensive to get the crank to turn. I hope LS1's ain't the only ones that will show up.

Nick if somebody wants to spend the money to put a sheetmedal intake on a set of unported heads
let them do it. The air will still have to go through a stock unmodified port.

So if a few guys happen to have 441+ CI LS1s then they may as well leave them at the house?

Glad mine's only 422 CI! ...'Course, no telling what it will be by then.

Joe,
I need some clarification on Pro-Stock & Pro-Outlaw, concerning head porting. Your last post suggested putting a sheetmetal intake on stock heads.
Houston, TX will be super represented by MTI, CXI, Madman, Velocity, Judsen with School Of Automotive Machine and of course my "Mr. Nitrous" Racing cars. I'm sure that Houston alone will bring enough cars for a 16 car field in Pro-Outlaw (imagine all of the "trash-talk" going on locally, until the big event...lol)
Can a car run both Pro-Stock & Pro-Outlaw...?
Winning two purses sounds like a lot of fun...imagine having to face yourself in the final

"Sheetmetal intakes OK as long as they are in the stock configuration."

Joe, could you clarify this a little bit. Maybe a couple of examples of what would and wouldn't be allowed.

Thanks!

I'll try Steve... A intake such as the "LS1 Spyder" would be legal. It has the throttle body in the front. A carb type intake with a throttle body on top would be illegal. That's what I mean by factory configuration. I hope this helps.

Steve you got mail!!!

The only classes that porting is NOT allowed is the Street Stock classes. The Modified, Pro Stock and Pro Outlaw classes WILL be allowed to port heads.

John you've heard the saying "One riot one Ranger"

One car one class.

Just wondering what type of intake a 400+ inch chevy with 18deg heads can run if they can not run a carb style intake? What is factory style FI intake look like for one of these engines? Am am still assuming no carbs right? I can't see any intake available for one of these except in a TPI/LT1 intake that is already on the market?

Just wondering.

Joe,

Perhaps we can add a weight factor for those who want to run 500 CI engines.

I don't understand why a sheetmetal is allowed,but a cast 4-barr intake isn't???

The sheetmetal intakes usually get 100lbs added as they have an advantage over a cast intake.
