Anyone done lightweight carpet recently?
My buddies and I stripped down my car to do some weight reduction stuff, and we were about to pull the insulation off the stock stuff when I realized it would probably be better to just sell the original carpet as is and buy some lightweight stuff.
I remember a couple Home Depot carpet threads, but a lot of the pics are long gone. Anyone have any they can post up? How much does this usually run? This would be a great way to cut down on weight!
Thanks!

man do it right I did the cheap route the first time with the pepboys stuff and it didnt last at all and was a pain to mold to the body. I ordered the carpet from LS1 speed and man was I impressed with the quality of the carpet and how easy it was to install. and no carpet ***** like the cheap stuff

I just ripped out my LS1 Speed carpet. Must have been a wrong number on the box because it didn't fit at all. I had a local interior shop do it right - basically stock carpet with all the backing taken off.
IMO don't waste your money on any after market "light weight" carpet. It is either so cheap it will not last, or it doesn't fit right. Just take your original carpet, take all the backing off and put it back in. You'll be $$ ahead in the long run. --- or just paint metal and call it carpet

I did the roll stuff from Autozone, and you have to use a lot of spray adhesive so it won't come up. My driver's side came up and the passenger side is okay. I might redo it just for NvsS and then see where I go from there.

Went to Wal-Mart and bought 4 rolls of the cheapo stuff. I think it's the carpeting that you use on sub boxes. The 4 rolls weight maybe 5# total. I bet the glue I used weighs more than the carpet it's holding.
