Default buying drag radials this week ... suggestions please...

first, i have 16x8's & 17x9's spare wheelsets - should i get them for my 16's or 17's? 2nd, should i get et street, street radial, or street radial 2's? the et streets i just dont understand if i need tubes or not, & what the proper size would be for either wheel on the et streets, as the radial & radial 2's have actual tire sizes listed. ... btw, my car is stock! just want to hook up as best as possible as even on backroads practicing launching at 16-1800 (auto) i spin for at least .3 to .5 seconds launching on my max performance summer tires.

I would be looking at the new ET Street SS. The regular ET Street Radial will be discontinued.

Use the 16" rims, you can get more sidewall in a tire with them.
As far as a tire, get a ET Street Radial for an auto.

Have you considered Hoosier? We run a 295/50/16 Hoosier drag radial and it works very well for us. Best 60' is 1.50 NA. I've used them on 3 cars now and have always had good luck. They don't require much of a burnout (IE lasts a long time) and have always hooked very well as long as the track prep is decent or better.

Is that a 26" or 28" tire.
Think he needs a 26" tire.
Good tire choice!

OP, You should list some details in your sarcastic signature, it will help get you accurate advice. A M6 car will do better on a bias ply tire. Get some M/T ET Street bias plys 26-10.5-16 and run them without tubes. This setup will be optimal for the strip. For a more street oriented setup get some DRs or if you have a A4.

I've always run MT drag radials but switched to the Hoosier drag radials this season to try out because they are about 9lbs a piece lighter. We'll see how they do this weekend.

liking the hoosiers over the et's so far as they are 7lbs lighter each in the size that i need. would anyone else say they are just as good ? if so, 14 lbs is 14 lbs less rotating weight & i'd be happy to go with the hoosiers

Go with the M/T 255/50-16 for stock power. I am sure the Hoosiers would hook better, but also would wear faster with a lot of street driving.

Just drive to the track with the M/T's already on.

well either i get will only be used at the track on a spare set of wheels ... so no street driving at all. would be nice to just drive with the M/T's on from the house already though ... so i guess final inquiry is - is the 14 lbs less rotating weight worth getting the hoosiers instead?

with my car at stock power level & being an auto, i'm seriously just considering the toyo proxes tq's 255/50/16, which are $160 each right now. i'm reading up, yes here on the forums, of guys dead hooking with them in the 400 hp range.

I went with M/T 255s on my 16" stock snowflake rims. I love them! They ride great on the street and hook up great on the street as well.

yea its pretty much between those & the toyo proxes for me now, as i would like to be able to drive to & from the strip on them & not take extra wheels & a jack to the track.

This. Or the Hoosier like mentioned is much lighter but don't get caught in the rain with them
