Pepper runs a new BEST.
Man those are some bad-*** times! I think I'll be swapping my ST3800 out for a TP4400.

I always give credit where I think credit is due. This guy not only has one of the quickest NA fbodies on here, but he also drives it to the track (gasp)!
Great numbers John
I bet you were dancing after the new best
Awesome numbers! I really wish I could get down there to check out some of the Texas cars. You guys are an impressive bunch. 10.6s out of an N/A 346 is simply amazing! And almost 100 MPH in the 1/8th! WOW!
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I just got back from MTI. Man thats a long drive. I didnt get home from work until 3ish today and MTI closes at 4 so I had to beat a hasty path over there. Anyways, we fixed some of my timing tables. The stock tables were kind of screwed right in the middle. Dropping my 32 degrees of timing down to 28. With a click or two Jayson had it fixed. We also got rid of a trouble code or two and adusted some other items like TM, rev limiter (7000 now), and lo and behold. We found the 30 pound injectors I run on the car were not included in the original tuning. O2's? They were 990 and 940. After the fuel table fix? 910 and 890. Man Jayson is getting good with that LS1-Edit. In no time I had picked up 7hp and 35 pounds of torque. I really didnt want to drive all the way out to MTI today but after that little tuning session I sure am glad I made the trip.
The C2's cam specs? 224/224 .581/.581 on a 112 l/s with 4 degrees of advance ground in. (108 I/C)
Like Pat said these are the new XE-R lobes (extreme-race/radical?)
I did NOT have to fly cut the pistons to use the C2.
The idle is about the same as the Hammer and it feels about the same. But it sure had a positive affect on my MPH. (I still find it hard to beleive it ran 124 mph)
Valve train noise? About the same. (not too loud at all) I really cant tell the difference driving around between the C1 and the C2.
The cam at 50 thous is actually smaller than the C1 but when the valves start opening... they OPEN, right now! They open further and faster than even the Hammer cams extremely fast opening lobes.
Springs? They are the BIG, new, MTI dual springs.
What were some of the other questions asked....car weight? Well by the end of the night I pulled it over to the scales and the cars weight was exactly 3001 pounds with out me or my helmet.
The motors new contents;
Yes I spun a bearing on MTI's dyno last October. I rebuilt it with stock GM LS6 parts. Stock GM crank, Stock GM rods, Stock GM rod bolts, Stock GM pistons and head gaskets.
I did upgrade to Zero Gap piston rings and Clevitte bearings.
Joe Kizzire, I dont know if I will make it. If I am off I would like to go... but November is a long way off. So put me down for a tentative "yes".
Terry, the TP4400 will provide quite a kick. IMO your making a good choice in upgrading to it. Good luck.
Colonel, I was mega suprised myself. I dont think I have stopped grinning since that third run last night. After all the adversity I have had this year, a little good news goes a long way. Hey, congrats on kicking a little *** yourself. Having my freinds do good is a kick *** feeling. So what are your goals with that hydraulic cam?
Video? Yea a good buddy caught it on his freinds movie camera. He says we should have the 10.68 vid pretty soon. I-CAN-NOT-WAIT-TO-SEE-THAT-VIDEO!
Y'all the car is launching so good right now. Straight and flat. Both wheels come up and the car sits back just a little and then ROCKETS forward. I am thinking of upgrading my stock shocks and springs to some HAL's... but it is hard to justify the moola when the car is hooking so good right now. Y'all think they would help?
I think I answered all the questions y'all asked. ( I hope so)
Now I got a few for y'all!
What about some lite weight brakes/rotors for the pepper? Are there any out there? Cost? Weight savings?

Nothing really good. The Baer front rotors are ~$550 and save 4-5# total. You can spend $900 and get an entire front drag race brake setup that will save 25# or so, but they claim its no good on the street. If you don't already have one, a VFN light weight hood would be the next weight thing. (bolt on hood saves 25# for $350 + paint, pin on saves 35#)

Here are your timeslips we "hillbilly scanned" today at the shop. (digital camera photo haha)

congrats!
Steve
What's your cam specs / spring combo?
Did you have to fly-cut the pistons for it?
Thanks again, congrats, and take care.
I want a 9.79 and 137 MPH with this hydraulic cam. Then it'll be on to the next stage!
Hey, I have some lightweight Strange brakes going on this week. They are supposed to save like 55 lbs or so but I don't know how streetable they are. They are drag specific. I'll let you know what kind of weight I save and how they perform. If you want to know more about them give Jay Billingsley a call. He's been MOST helpful in helping me research several weight saving options. Very cool to talk to.
