FTI 3600 convertor

FTI 3600 convertor Have been searching and can't find many that run this convertor and want to know what to expect from it when I get round to install
It is the srls0086 with 1.86str
Car
99 camaro 165000 miles
Ls6 intake
Headers and ory
Lid
Ac delete
M/T drag radials
2.73 gear
Best time so far

People are going to tell you that you should upgrade from the 2.73 gears first otherwise it feels "loose"...trust me i know I have 2.73's as well. Heard the converter is a decent brand, it would get you into the 12's for sure. Post results if you go with it

I already have the convertor just trying to find the time to install it i will freshen up the trans while it's out too
The reason I bought it was I had heard fti were very good and the lower str should be more gentle on the tyres at launch and that should help as my local track does not have good track prep
Not too fussed about feeling loose it's not my daily driver I only drive it to the track and back and a couple of days out each year
I just can't find much about this convertor when I search everyone says yank or circle d
Other thing is as I am in the UK I need it to be right as postage back for a free re stall would cost more than it was worth

Not sure what Part # I have its a 9"triple disc lockup I bought it used off a board member.
I picked up about a 1/2 second.
My tranny guy said its one of the nicest converters he has seen and he loved the way it woke the car up.

I had pretty much the same set up as you and ran a 13.0 in fall air. Installed a Yank SS 3600 and went 12.8 in the summer heat. Made the car a lot more enjoyable. The 2.73 is brutal but I'm still running it. I refuse to spend a dime on a 10 bolt.

The high 11s is my long term aim and if I get bored of that I will go down the procharger route

Well I finally had this convertor installed
I had the trans freshened up with a couple of upgrades in there too
Well first impressions are wow
It nearly pulls the car forward in drive without gas and drives fairly tight in first it starts to feel a bit looser in higher gears I may modify the part throttle shift points to sort that
My 40 mph flat spot on kick down is gone and it revs so fast I can see half a second in this it feels so much quicker I can't wait to get to the track and try it out

Srls0086 I know this is an old thread, but I'm in the same boat the OP was in. I have it on the bench and need to instal it. Debating getting an SS3600 2.5 STR instead. The low STR of thiS unit worries me. Any advice, experience, comments? Thanks
I wouldn't do anything smaller than a ss3600. I recommend doing a ss4000 if you are running a descent size cam. The SS series converters feel tighter driving but will hit the tires harder at the track. The ss4000 will drive almost the same as the 3600 but will perform better at the track.
