Default Race weight

I see most people say "race weight" when they talk about their cars weight. I know it includes gas and anything else for it to race, but is that with driver or without? I know some people have some light cars but I was wondering how light.

Thanks man. Some of these guys must be flyweights by their race weights compared to the weight reductions done to the cars. I know my SS weighs exactly 3400 without me in it before any weight reductions and a half tank of gas with an aluminum bbk intake. Planning on dropping 200 lbs off the car, but I'm a 250 lb man so I'll still be pretty heavy.

Yep and 200 lbs will definitely help a little. Ever race with a passenger then without...you'll notice a difference lol

Yeah, I've never ran this car at the strip without my two 9yo sons with me (170 lbs for both). I sold my Malibu drag car and got this because it was slow enough to take them down the strip and something they could help me work on. With slicks it should run decent now.

Oh wow I used to run the TV2 cam with my PRC 5.3 heads and a 100 shot on my LS1. I really liked that setup for what it was

I'm at 3075 with nothing major done, basically stock appearance, full interior, 18" wheels. I did scour the weight reduction threads and got my knowledge up to par. The only money parts I have are front and rear bumper supports, strange front brakes, and tubular k. Other then that I deleted lots of stuff and cut some stuff. Obviously some stuff will cost you some kind of money...like an abs delete kit, an ac block off plate, a manual driver's seat frame, metal to patch in stuff that you cut out. Some things make you money cause you can sell stock parts, like airbags, ac stuff, power driver seat frame, ebrake stuff, monsoon stuff. Then I have lots of lighter then stock parts like midwest rear drag bar, coilovers, short exhaust, short torque arm etc. You need to get a solid gameplan, see what you can live without, see what your budget is, and get to it.

You can cut out 70 lbs by removing the spare tire, jack, radio, speakers, egr stuff, and air pump stuff.

When I put on my Kooks headers and true duals I pulled off all the smog equipment. I also pulled all the heat shields off too.

Like the others said, there's a lot of free stuff you can do.

Next I'll pull out all the windshield wiper equipment and the washer fluid tank.

It just depends on what you're willing to live without.

I've removed spare and jack, front swaybar, went to fast from bbk (14lbs less), removed air pump, cc and tcs. Next will be wheels 15x4's and 15x10's with drag radials, ac delete, lightweight carpet, mwc front bumber support, maybe airbags, door bar on drivers side, and a couple less speakers. 3400 was without any weight reduction and 1/2 tank so I'm probably at 3300 with 1/4 tank and with what I've removed already. Looking for 3150 without me when I'm finished.

I'm trying to remove as much weight as possible and have the interior still look stock. I'm going to run draglites so my brakes will be hidden too.

My car is full interior, and weighs in at 3075 currently.

Removing weight out of these cars (especially front) is critical to track and street performance. Some people don't want to get rid of ac, abs, cruise, power steering etc but if your a little older chances are you grew up riding or driving in a car with hardly any of those things anyways. The other thing that people do alot that makes no sense to me performance wise is stick a truck motor in place of there aluminum block ls1. Good job now you just added 100lbs right in the front of the car

Anyways CarolinaSS you have a nice list of mods, your car should run real good!

Thanks bro. The ac will be out tomorrow and I'll be installing my dry kit on it. Getting it tuned as soon as my tuner is able to do it. Going for a 200 dry shot, kit will not be visible with hood and trunk open. This will be one of the fast "cam only" cars on the street around here. Hondas better be ready. I have a wet kit also that I'll be using with a stand alone fuel cell later (up to 275 shot). Just waiting on a rearend and we might see what both kits can do.

This is one of the best threads for documenting weight loss I've seen. I love what you've done.

Thanks bud I appreciate it. It really started as a k member and bumper supports and just spiraled and spiraled. I am on a mission to not stop until all the extra weight is out of the car. Im not butchering it though, I'm keeping full interior/stockish appearance....so if it fits in those guidelines and isnt retarded expensive im doing it. I bet I will have a set of strange rear brakes on very very soon........

I've been welding for 10 years, went to school for it, even made a living at it for a while. So IDGAF about cutting something up. Rumor has it I may have even cut my floor board up to fit some mufflers in the past.......best tucking 4 inch exhaust on an fbody you've ever seen.

You don't need to worry about 10-20lbs of metal... You've already covered that with a 445 inch motor! lol
