Default Project snake eyes featuring the **** stain

Goals: Run 11's stock internal, 20+mpg, keep AC, spend less than $6k, A4, start from bone stock, and get circle D on the top 50 stock internal list!

So I found a very nice 00 formula hardtop from a fellow techy.

And she is 100% bone stock down to the paper filter and lid. So what's a stock A4 2.73 with 158k miles on it run at a crappy track with crappy air you ask? I guessed mid to low 14's. So Friday I took it to Atlanta dragway and gave it a go. Tried a few different launches but she just couldn't do any better than 14's. Best 60 was with the tcs on @ 2.18, best et and mph were 14.189@101.57 with a 2.29 60. You know track prep is stellar when a bone stock 2.73 car spins!

Why have I named this car **** stain you ask? Cuz she pee'd her pants

Kinda hard to tell in the pic, but it's all yellow snow!

Now for the plan:
My circled 4500 stall verter is on the way! Thanks so much cris! I couldn't recommend circled any higher! Amazing to work with.

I've got a set of race headers, LS6 intake manifold, and lid in the garage. Bought a set of darkstars with MT's for 500. I also have an underdrive pulley in the garage and an ory. So it's just down to weight reduction. A set of $250 go spares up front, strip interior, remove bumpers, put on my firehawk hood, and see how it runs all tuned up on the 2.73. So far I'm out of pocket 3500 on the car, 500, 250, 800 verter, and about 200 in fluids. 5250 total for now. Now I just have to put it all in and take the car to house of hook or silver dollar. And get a base weight this week.

this will be a cool experiment !!

You can tell your a veteran with your well chosen purchases - I would love to see a first stage of convertor and tires I bet those 2 things put it in the 12's allready

I've actually been contemplating just doing the weight reduction and throwing the tires on and see what it does like that. Then just add the converter, but it'd be hard to do the verter and put the stock exhaust back on. It's sold old and brittle it's all gonna break I think

Suspension will consist of the cheapest TA I can get a hold of that works, my own lca's and phb, and maybe some cheap used shocks from someone here if needed.

Key words "that works"... important! Stay away from anything with poly bushings.

Be careful on which SFCs.... some are not effective and just add weight to the car.

One of the best ways to gain ET performance is reduction of rotating weight. While the Racestar wheels are lighter than the stockers for sure, there are other wheels out there that can be purchased on the cheap that are a good bit lighter. Light weight brakes, wheels, and driveshafts are not too cheap to buy new, but performance gains are worth it on limited power applications.

I got the racestars with new tires for 500...cant pass up that kind of deal on a budget build. And yes, the only SFC's worth putting on one of these cars are the MWC SFC's, the others just dont attach to the correct point IMO.

Made a discovery last night and put an offer in on a house thats 1/2 the driving distance to work. So this car might become more strip than street! The previous owner neglected to mention that the heater core isnt hooked up. I can only assume thats because it leaks. First car Ive owned that has AC and no heat.

After a divorce and moving 3 times this summer, I am finally back on this project! I now have just about everything for it. I even splurged and got a set of viking coilovers from another member for $800 shipped.

The plan now is to strip it all the way ( no cutting yet other than the cowl maybe ) and see what it runs with an E85 SD tune, lid, and gutted with radials. Then back to the garage for the verter, 1-7/8 headers/ORY, under drive pulley, MWC TA, coilovers, and SFC's. I'll also do the LCA brackets and LCA's then as well. I would like to pre-install the coilovers at home, then take it to the track on stock shocks and springs make a couple passes and then put the coilovers on just to see how much is gained from them. Might be to complicated though. Got a sweet little battery to relocate to the rear too. It will be super light btt its all said and done

Here is the starting point;with a good bit of junk un the back of the car

My DD also has a 4.1 setup with moser axles in it so I'll swap those two once it hits 11's with the 2.73. FWIW a 2.73 in a 6 speed car will do 74mph in first!!!!

You should be able to hit your goal with out a problem. I was going to do the same thing with my car. I ran a 12.4 full weight, no suspension, 2.73 with a 3600 stall. Stock 17's on the front. I think with a little suspension and weight reduction I could have hit 11's. Now I added H/C/I, still on the 2.73. I want to hit 10's with a 2.73 with a small shot.

What kind of cam do you have that works well with a 2.73?

Thanks for the info! Bad thing about commerce ( local strip ) is track prep and DA is always terrible. I plan on taking it to silver dollar in January to actually hit the number and then to SGMP when they open.

Im with you though, I'd like to get it on the SI list and then the cam only list, then put heads and a 300 shot on it

Made some decent progress yesterday. Only thing left for interior is speakers and swapping out the doors for my insanely gutted ones. Time to !bumper supports, wipers, and cowl now.

I don't. I have a Smallwood cam speced for my single plane intake. I will be upgrading to a 3.42 or 3.73 when I get around to buying a 12 bolt. For now I'm using what I have till it breaks.

Maxing out a set up before making changes is always fun. I just never have the patience.

Around here the beginning of November is always the best time for DA and if you catch a sunny day the track prep is decent too.
