Default Get me started...

Alright, finally, I have a drivetrain that won't break, and some sticky tires for the first time. I've never run on anything but street tires. Mods in sig, plus I have some 26 x 10.5 x 15 M/T ET Streets. I'm heading to US41 this Sunday to try it out. Where should I start? Tire PSI? What RPMS to start at (and how high can I go)? Burnouts? Hopefully you guys see where i'm heading, and i'll finally get some 12s. Thanks!

start with 15psi in the ET streets. Do a BIG burnout. Do your first launch at around 4700rpm and see how it hooks If it hooks work your launch rpm upwards on every pass.
I find it works best to have yoru launch rom at ~5000rpm lift your foot off the clutch as fast as you can and hammer the gas at the same time. Puts a little preload on the ring and pinion and makes your axle shappier as well.
Cheers,
Chris

First of all good luck and get the tranny warm to be able to power shift. Try starting off at around 18 psi for the ET's. Get them very hot, especially if their brand new. You could probably leave around 5,000 rpms. Work your way up to it if you feel uneasy about it. And shift your A** off !!! You'll be there no prob.

Well they're not brand new, I bought a used set with a dozen passes for 50 bucks. Approx. how long should I be doing a burnout? And should I do it in first or second gear with the 4.10s?

Last time at US41 I ran a 13.4 @ 108 w/ 2.25 60ft. Do you guys think she has 12s in her?

Thanks for the info, all is welcome!

Second gear and I would say 3-5 sec. Thats what I do, sometimes even longer if track prep isn't there.

BTW...if your wanting a killer ET, get your 60 ft. time as low as possible. Shoot for something around a 1.60 - 1.70 60 ft. time. You'll be there before you know it. Can you say low 12's ?

Go around the waterbox...

I roll back into the water... I do a quick spin to get the whole tire wet...

I pull to the front of the waterbox...

I would prolly do a 2nd gear burnout for 5 seconds on your first pass.

Roll out gradually letting off, don't burn them down to the tree.

I'd prolly try 4000 and go from there, maybe increase in increments of 400 rpms.

I would probably have the tires at 18-22 psi since they will grow 1-2 psi.

I have cut a best of 1.51 at US41.

I might see you there on Sunday!

What are you fools talking about? Launch it off the rev limiter!
Depending on how well the track is hooking with the mods in your sig you should be able to launch at ~6k. I would start at 5k and work up about 400 rpm each pass, I wouldn't be surprised if the ET Streets can take anything you throw at them. (again assuming the track is prepped well)
I would run ~16 PSI and check the pressure after your first run, the PSI will jump up when you heat up the tires. Try to keep it under 18 psi, but remember lower pressure than you need will just hurt you on the top end so you want it as high as you can while you're still hooking up.
Just rev it up and nail the throttle just as you drop the clutch. Should get you a low 60', if not don't be discourage just keep working at it.
Let us know how you do.
BTW that was very wise to beef up your drivetrain before you did any big power mods!
Cartek, Denny's DS, and a Moser are the way to go! They're workin good for me.
