Default If you take a spare set of wheels/tires to the track

If you drive to the track on street tires and then change over to track only tires, where do you leave your wheels/tires/jack,etc? Accept the extra weight and place them in the trunk/back seat area or risk leaving them in the pit area for when you come back around after your run?

Damn. I have an 1.5 hr one way highway commute to a 1/4 mile track. I would like to try Hoosiers but do not want to risk the drive with them on. Never seen a storage area rental at my track. Helmet rental yes but not more. This is PBIR.

I've seen them chained an locked to a fence a number of times.

Maybe make a friend at the track (or have one follow you) and offer them a few $$ to watch your stuff ? (paying on return)

But this is why I bought a trailer....too many "what ifs"...flat tire, water pump, starter, trans, blow a rear, or even a wreck....how are you getting home ???

Tow truck driver is going to soak you and you can't leave it at the track

before I owned a trailer I always used a combination style cable lock ran the cable through my wheels and through the body of my jack and around a fence post. My close friends had my combo incase they needed the jack.

You do not want that extra stuff in the car! Beside weight if you get in a wreck you don't want want wheels and tires and jacks flying around.

Bike cable them together around a post, or find a friend. When I had my open trailer all the stuff would stay in the bed of the truck under the cover, now it stays in the trailer.

I took out the towing brace to reduce weight. I like the bicycle chain option.
The folks I know would take their cars to run and be in the same situation.
True about worst case scenario. There is always a bit of gamble.

Anything other then a full blown slick id drive to the track on. Bring two cans of fix a flat, a mini compressor, and a tire plug kit.

When I drove the car to the track, I always left my gear in the pits, as was the general practice for others that swapped tires, etc. I've never had anything get stolen, or heard of anyone else losing anything. What kind of shady tracks are you guys going to?

above someone asked if anybody ever knew of stuff getting stolen in pits , about 30 years ago at my track I remember a guy having to drive his car home on slicks because someone stole his regular wheels since then I always try to lock up my stuff... always one in the crowd as they say.

Yes, but with the fast wear of the Hoosiers, they might not make too many trips before they are done.
