Two MTI 9-second C5s win huge Supra event! I just got back from River City Raceway and saw some VERY fast street cars. This entire weekend was a HUGE national Supra gathering here in Houston. Friday was a Dynojet shootout at MTI (quite a few 800+ rwhp Supras), Saturday was a road course shootout North of Houston, and today the group rented out the drag strip and invited the Vipers and Corvettes to participate with them in the shootout.
A TON of fast Supras were in attendance, many squeeking into the 9s, many more in the low 10s. There were some TNT Vipers running low 10s, a Lingenfelter Twin-Turbo C5 that ran 10.1s, a couple Hennessey Vipers, a low 10 ZR1 Corvette, the list is looong! Supras of course made up 75% of the cars.
Well, the all-out shootout between the Vipers, Supras, and Corvettes had two MTI Corvettes in the finals! SW's famous black M6 Hardtop ran a 9.8 @ 147 mph. The newest Corvette to join the ranks was just finished this past weekend. It belongs to Stacy Barnett from Arizona, his car is a bright red 6-speed coupe, with a fresh 422ci solid roller and a TNT nitrous kit. Very similar to SW's car, but with a tiny bit less cam duration. He ran back to back 9.9s @ 142 mph, but missed a gear in the finals, giving SW the win overall. Two Corvettes winning a Supra event, you gotta love that! And the competition was no slouch either.
The quickest/fastest qualifying car also belonged to SW. It was his black single-turbo Supra, which nailed a 9.81 @ 152 mph!!! This is a street car folks, full interior, A/C, no weight removed! Unreal. That Supra was eliminated by Stacy Barnett in the semi-finals, so SW owned two out of four semi-finalist cars (he drove both of them!).

There are getting to be more than a few 9-sec street driven LS1s around now. And MTI seems to be behind a number of them that are winning races. Glad I got a piece of those motors, though not with as radical of a setup.

Re: Two MTI 9-second C5s win huge Supra event! Had a great time at RCR, a nice change from HRP, great set up too. Good to see Tony and a few other guys out there from Houston. Congrats to SW and Stacey for an awesome show!!! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" /> Cars sounded and looked incredible... MTI does it again... If only the "SS" would have been able to hook!! Spinning hard, and sideways, through 2nd gear. Was still a blast though and well worth the drive.

Re: Two MTI 9-second C5s win huge Supra event! Leo, hey man where ya been?? Yeh had a great time out there...havin' a few cold one's with my buds, "after" racin' of course, and hot lapping the SS. Car did okay but couldn't 60ft. worth a crap. Best pass with major traction problems, got it on video, sideways through 2nd was a 10.52 @ 135.9. 16" ET streets may not cut it any more. We'll see at HRP soon! Probably would have helped if there was more than 2lbs. in the air bag...what a dumb *** !! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" /> Guess I had too many other things on my mind. See Matt I did need ya there... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

BTW, why don't you just go ahead and suck it up and admit that your car has evolved into more of a drag race car and put the freaking cage in!! That Wolfe 5-point sure is nice.
