Default Swapping to a manual seat frame

I was wanting to know if swapping a manual seat frame from a power is just a quick swap. I bought a manual frame this week that I'm waiting to use on my Camaro to drop a little weight. It's a 99 SS. I couldn't find a good thread on it by searching. Thanks

Yea it's super easy. As long as the slider/mount is made for your car it's a direct bolt on. If you bought a universal mount you may have to do some drilling to make the holes line up correctly.

Saves about 10 pounds, can come from a v6 car, 4 bolts to the car, 4 bolts to the cushion.

It's a factory v6 one. I know it looked like 4 bolts holding it to the seat. I'll clean it up and paint it then install soon as I get a day off work. Thanks guys

Default The weight difference is about 3lbs.. Idk if it's worth it..

Manual frame

Power frame

15lbs for power

12lbs for manual

At least I got paid for the job when I found this change under the seat lol

Keep in mind that this is a bathroom scale so it's not the most accurate for lightweight stuff..

Wow, I've always read 7-10 lbs lighter for the manual.

Well the bathroom scales are not very accurate for weighing little things but there is NO WAY it's a 10lb difference.. The most I'd give it is 5lbs max difference..

Between the 2 cars I found $14.00 and the wrecking yard seats cost me $30.00 for the pair so it was a $16.00 mod.

The TA seats with the inflatable bolsters were heavy.

The manual track is nearly as heavy as the power one as it still has 6-way adjustment. I picked up a passenger-side track, cut the back mounts off, then fabbed new ones out of angle stock. The front mounts fit fine. This saved 8-10 lbs.

The manual track from a 3rg gen bolts straight in and is a lot lighter than 4th gen track. 7 lbs the complete track both sides

3rd gen has a non up/down track on the drivers side.. just forward/back, same as passenger side on 4th gen.. so it's light

I just did this swap. Sorry no pics I've bolted it back into the car. I also modded the rail to move the seat back a total of 4"

My manual track doesnt have an up down. Guess that's why my weight estimate was off.
