Ok, so all the cars are 346-348cid correct? So,....
1. TSP
2. Lee (bad *** for a non-shop car!)
3. Thunder Racing
I'm gonna assume these 3 places will swap about 1,083 times before the Southern Shootout in the fall. Bottom line I guess is Lee killed F/S. TSP has the fastest NA 346-348cid and TR has the fastest NA HYD-CAM 346-348cid. All bad *** cars!

Are any of the cars running the stock bottom end?

no stock bottom ends. As long as the balancing is good and you have adequate rod bolts rpm is not limited by the short block. the valvetrain, etc. would limit you more (IMO).
All these guys have pistons, rods, (maybe forged cranks??), ARP stuff, etc.

Anyway, I didn't know until I got back that TSP had ran a 10.20

I wanted to get in on some of that empty ballast box racing but I had to finish going rounds and when I was done they closed the track up real fast. I went back right at the end of the bracket racing that night and got 2 passes in 10.26 & 10.27 at 3300 # RW. I spun bad on both launches 1.45 & 1.47 60's I was cutting 1.35 all day long. If I had hooked a normal launch I should have definately ran in the 10.1x or even 10.0x.
![Devil](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_devil.gif)
What was amazing is how light the TSP and TR car was in race mode. I heard that the TR car WITH Paul in it was 3080 #'s RW

Can't wait till the Souther Shootout, I didn't get to race TR or TSP this weekend. Should be good times in November

It was a badass sounding car too, sounded like a mean solid roller cam in there and I read that Paul was spinning it to 8300

Ah, yea it was funny hearing some of the spectators coming over and saying "TR just ran a 10. whatever... you hear they got this or that in thiers blah blah..." LOL so much like hear say stuff at the track.
Its really cool to see us pushing the limits of the smaller LS1's and doing it in different ways. I wanted to race you guys or the TSP car but never got a chance. I saw the tree red light you and I was disapointed then I was in the burnout box behind TSP when I saw him put the bumper 2" away from the ground and lost. I was like damn =(, but Jay put up a good run the first time we raced and of course the the idiots had us on sportsman tree so we both left off the top bulb. On the second race he broke something and coasted.
Looking forward to seeing ya all again in Nov!

We took our newest shop car (red '98 Z28) to the North vs. South Shootout in Indiana. You can read my full write-up HERE. Long story short, we went out the first round since the car lifted HARD and netted a 1.53 60' with the rear tires!
You can see the video of that pass HERE.
We pulled the weight out to net a 3250# raceweight and netted a 10.20 @ 131.7 MPH pass on a 1.399 60'. You can see that video HERE. I could only stall the car up to 3,800 RPM since it would try to push the car through the lights any higher than that. We're running new brakes and bled them three times to get it to that point, but there's certainly more in it just in the 60' alone. We ran the Thunder car after this pass to shoot for a 10.1x pass, but it spun to a 1.44 60' and I accidentally shifted the car into OD instead of 3rd.
I had to pull it back into 3rd.
We'll see if we can't squeeze a nine out of her in the next few months with fine-tuning on the suspension and a few other tricks.![Devil](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_devil.gif)

The car has our newest solid-roller package. We're going to hold onto the specs of the cam, but I would call it a moderate to aggressive solid-roller cam for a stock-cid application. The cylinder heads started life as bare Patriot Performance stage II LS6-style heads, but they were worked, hand-finished, and assembled here. They are finished to our race-series cylinder head specs, with the exception of the valve train of course.
Our shift points are at 7200 RPM. The transmission is a Century-built 200-4R OD transmission. It's their HP build that will withstand some serious abuse! The converter is a custom-build 5200 RPM stall. The rearend is a Moser 12-bolt with 4.56:1 gears, and we were running Hoosier 28x10x15" slicks. We are running the QA1/Hal struts and front springs with rear shocks, BMR k-member, a-arms, Xtreme drag rear sway bar, boxed SFC's, adjustable tubular LCA's, and adjustable PHR. The torque arm is made by Spohn. The setup dynoed 504 RWHP through an unlocked 5200 stall and the 4.56's. When you start playing with solid-rollers, you jump up to a new playing field, so to speak. It's certainly not the most streetable setup, but it wasn't build to be. It was built with one thing in mind: going fast!
I know that Lee has his new setup tuned to kill mode, and it will certainly be a lot of time swapping, especially this fall! I think there will be some new records set at the Southern Shootout this November in Louisiana for factory stock. It may even involve a 9-second pass.![Grin](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_grin.gif)
BTW, thanks for combining my post with Matt's. I didn't even think that he had already made a post.

So are all 3 cars running sheet metal intakes?
Trevor, Century definately does build some awesome 200s. I saw the video of your car, very nice, and I'm wondering if it was just my imagination or did you shift into OD when you were at about the 1000' mark?

Well when they step up to the sheet metal intake they're probably gonna go 10.0s maybe a high 9. A Mafless tune should help with reaching those goals.
I still think it's silly to call this racing class Factory Class. Maybe it's my familiarity with the NMRA Ford racing classes. I have 2 LS1 Z28, but I've owned 5 Mustangs in the past. Whoever's in charge of this class should go to NMRAracing.com and see how they classify their racing classes. Look up in particular the Fctory Stock class and the Pure Street class. Very strict rules, no sheet metal intakes or solid roller cams and they have to use stock OEM Ford hydraulic lifters.
Current record for Pure Street is 10.43 at 129.33 weighing 3100 lbs, 311 cid max, .500" max lift at valve, stock hydraulic lifters, aftermarket stock style long runner intake, 2.5" full exhaust with tailpipes. You get the idea.
I think their racing format is better because it's similar to the NHRA format in a way. Strict rules and enforcement. This makes the racers be more ingenious with their combinations. They can't just slap a bigger (more lift) or solid cam in there and pick up 2 tenths. Or a sheet metal intake and 90+ mm TB.
About the only rules I see in our Factory Stock class are 3350 min weight, 360 cid limit, no C5R heads and no FAST/DFI. Well that and no NHRA Stock Eliminator cars. I still think that one is the
rule of all. LOL

I wonder how fast a stock eliminator car would be if he had to use the stock PCM and harness? I think our F/S cars would be a little faster, although there is some stuff on Stock Elim. cars that you wouldn't see if you didn't know what you were looking at, maybe someday our TSP car will have a perfect launch... ![Winky](https://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies/LS1Tech/gr_wink.gif)
We were running a 90mm Fast Intake with TPIS 90mm TB. We've had to shift into OD before at the 1000' mark, but that was with 4.30 gears and allot of N20 on a stock shortblock. It doesn't seem to hurt to shift into OD on N20, I think we went 10.37 @ 131 then (seems slow nowadays).
