Jantzer Performance 10.89 @ 122 NA / Stock Shortblock!
Well I knew it wouldn't be long! Get this....... 2087 FT. DA at 7:00, the time of my best run. Runs were made at Southern Oregon Dragway, 1400 ft. elevation. I made this pass just before the sun went down and of course without any prep, the track just kept getting worse while the DA's were going down. Here is another load of new BESTS!
60' 1.487 New Best
330' 4.441 New Best
T.Burger Area 6.925! New Best & Raised the Bar for ya Terry!
1/8 MPH 99.14 WOW! Best of course.
1/4 10.891 YES I MADE IT!
1/4 MPH 122.25
I'm extremely happy. And I will say this, I REALLY respect 10sec cars & faster. It's becoming a chore to drive this thing straight down the track. Probably better prep would make a difference, but still.
I spun atleast a little on every pass. My 60's from start to finish last night were 1.48, 1.49, 1.52, 1.54, 1.57! The last run I tried to flash the converter which REALLY hit hard and she really spun. I think with a hooking track, I can get more out of it by flashing the stall than power braking to 2500-2700. ET's were 10.89, 10.90, 10.92, 10.96, & 11.00 DOPE I ran 11's. I also set a new best MPH on the second pass, 123.62!
Pretty damn consistent! On friday nights we have a heads up 11.00 class, supposed to by like NHRA's 10.90 class but we adjust for altitude. I took home the trophy in 3 rounds with only 1 11sec. pass. I scared most of them into changing classes or redlighting....sounds like the GM shootout doesn't it.
I think my 60's are about as good as they'll get around here with the Hoosier QTP DOT's. I'm changing over to a full slick this week so I can get the most out of it. A friend of mine at the track went from MT Drags to ET Streets and was PISSED because he couldn't hook at all. Those 1.3X 60 ft's are just around the corner.
The question is what TIRE & RIM Combo? I'm only running 8.5 rim now and probably need a 10" with 10" tread. I'm hitting the 7K rev limiter just past the markers on the big end with 26" tires. Hmmm. 26 or 28's?
I think I'll get the new tire on and try it again next week. If the weather is bad up here like I expect next weekend, and Sacramento is clear, I'm on my way to a sea-level track. If not, I'm heading to SAC in 2 weeks regardless, weather permitting of course.
It's been a fun ride for sure. I hope to stay as fortunate as I have been thus far. The stock shortblock, stock trans, & stock rear-end are holding up fine.
FWIW, I corrected the ET to a 10.626 @ 125.37 YIKES!

FastOrange:
TP4400 & 4.10's just like you!
Stab & Steer:
Yes I know the Cam's "outdated" & "very mild" compared to the cams out now. The ramp rates must be really slow....but it does let me run the $45 Comp 981-16 springs. And I've never had a problem with valvetrain. I haven't even adjusted the valve lash since it was installed over 3 years ago. MMS does good work and I think has the best selection of cams to fit any particular need.
Guido:
I may be on borrowed time. But lightening the car goes along way towards saving your @ss, as did the A4 swap.
Terry:
10's are around the corner. Get it hooked and you're right there. Lighten 'er up a 100lbs or so.
Mjf454:
10.50's??? I set my goals high, but can I do it on the stock shortblock??? I think so! Remember, I'll be updating heads/cam to suit my needs better. My car peaks around 6200 right now probably and I'm running 6800 through the traps, a bit over my power peak.
Kent:
Rabbit's Foot? Nah, I left the magic in those Stage I 270cfm heads of mine. I'm running stock torque arm, BMR LCA's, BMR Panhard Bar, Hal's Front/Rear, Eibach Prokit springs, and RR airbag at 20lbs. The weight factor has really helped my 60's. Otherwise I don't think 1.4 60's would have been possible with these DOT tires. Terry's got the big motor to try and run me down with. Hopefully I'll have my 60's in the 1.3X range and make it a real thorn in his @ss. Wheels are Centerline Warriors 15X8.5 and 26X11.5X15 Hoosier QTP DOT's. I'm going to a full slick though.

Congrats! And you broke in big time too, it's a lot nicer to get into the 10s with a solid 10.89 instead of a 10.999! I know it's not comparible as my car isn't that quick, but I was glad that my stock LT1 ran a 13.89 last weekend instead of squeaking into the 13s with a 13.99 or something.

Re: Jantzer Performance 10.89 @ 122 NA / Stock Shortblock!
Thanks all.
I have a good feeling that the car only weighs 3000lbs, 3150-60 ish with me in it. I haven't had a chance yet to weigh it. I have a few other hardcore weight reduction mods to do: P/A A-arms, Dynabat, carbon fiber hood/t-tops/and maybe rear hatch. I'm pretty sure I can shave another 130lbs or so. I have to do something to make it tough on Terry with that 388 coming.
GeorgeC:
It feels awesome! 10 sec cars are animals. On one of my passes I looked around to see how fast everything was passing by and I REALLY started thinking about what if this happened or that. Mentally I'm preparing myself and SAFETY is definately on my mind now. I may go to an 8pt cage. What's the best available?

Thats really awesome, especially considering that not so good weather and the DOT tires!
Congratulations
Also, you have an eibach prokit on the car? How high does it sit with that 3100 raceweight?

Re: Jantzer Performance 10.89 @ 122 NA / Stock Shortblock!
Jantzer--You must have a rabbit's foot with the spiderman antenna mod. That is truly amazing to be running those kind of times. I am thoroughly impress. If you don't mind, would you explain your suspension setup, tires and wheels. I guess Terry will be chasing you up and down the California coast before he catches those ET's--Just kidding. Anyway you have to be respected for the times you have accomphlist and I am sure there is more. Good luck in setting the new standars.
