Default Fun Ford Weekend in Baytown.......

I just got back from Fun Ford Weekend in Baytown (HRP) a little while ago. In the mod motor class, which is comparable to our LS1's, all I can do is shake my head in disappointment regarding Ford's performance in this class. The mod motor class totaled approximately 50 cars. Out of the 50 cars, there were a couple of 9 second cars, and maybe one or two 10 second cars.

As a whole, most of the Mustangs in this class were only running 13 & 14 second 1/4 mile times! As a former member and participant of Fun Ford, and now current owner of a mildly modded 11 second LS1 Camaro, I could only shake my head and somewhat feel sorry for how poorly these cars perform.

Yeah Ford is coming out with the '03 Cobra ($35K) and the N/A Mach 1. This will certainly upgrade the mod motor Mustang's performance, but it will still fall way short of the LS1's. I can't wait for Super Chevy at HRP in September. I would be embarrassed to be running the times the mod motored Mustang's are running now.

Wake up Ford! Do something about the lack of the Mustang's performance, and make it affordable for car enthusiasts! People don't want to pay $50+ (Cobra R), $80K+ (GT 40), or $35K ('03 Cobra).

In the meantime, I'll keep driving my bargain '01 Z28, and wipe the floor with every mod motor Mustang I run up against.

Ya I feel ya man. Some guys get those mod motors fast, others are the typical guy we see on the street, a 13 second modded up car

Just an FYI....Mod Motor is run under an Open Comp Format. That's essentially a qualified Bracket race with a Pro Tree. Slow, consistent cars generally do well in this realm.

Bob,

I agree with you about the cars being the most consistent are the ones that are the least modded. If I were to run FFW again, I would go with a automatic GT and shoot for low 13's. The name of the game is running consistent and cutting a good light. I do miss FFW. It was hard watching yesterday and not competing.

Ya....I will readily admit that one reason I traded my 99 T/A on my current 99 Cobra was the fact that I could race it in a real national series.

Had a great 2001 in NMRA...except for input shafts...LOL. This year....can you say "first round fodder"?

Wicked 98z I was wondering about the set up on your car (I guess its yours 'the blue camaro??) Is that a fuel pump on the left hand side of the fenderwell (between the fenderwell and the battery box)??? I was looking at those pics and I was wondering you had your nitrous system set up(shot size etc.)
If you don't mind could you explain it a little to me? TIA!!
