Default Help me decide on lightweight brakes (street/strip)

My car is basically a weekend cruise car and goes to the strip maybe 10 times a year right now. I'd guess 5,000 miles a year total. What's the best option for lightweight brakes. Do I drive it on the street too much for the strange race only kit? Would I be further ahead to get the aerospace street kit? I've read about wilwood and us but there doesn't really seem to be much feedback.

"Do I drive it on the street too much for the strange race only kit?"

I would guess yes. Then again, I'd be crazy enough to try it.

Yup, we're in the same boat bro. I hear that the Strange rotors aren't that expensive to replace. Something like $100 or so. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do happen to warp them, the tenth you'll pick up is worth a hundred bucks every so often. I'm sure you just can't go ripping around town stopping hard and messing around. Save it for the track anyway.

I've put about 1500 miles on my aerospace front race brakes, no problem so far. They stop great also.

Hmm, do you stop as much as before or have you tried to limit the amount of braking on the street? Hell, if the Aerospaces can take it I'm sure the Stranges would survive. Hmmm........? What's Jay Billingsley's number again? HA!

How much weight did you save with the aerospace kit? I'm guessing you have the street kit?

Nope I got the Race Version. Not sure on the total weight savings but the whole kit including packaging only weighed 25 pounds!

I do notice myself trying to stop sooner than i used too.

Money isn't really the issue. It's a matter if they will last on the street...so I guess it is money since I don't want to be changing rotors every week. I wish strange offered a street kit.

Don't we all. Well you know what they say, all or nothing. Weight reduction is the same way bro. I'm biting the bullet and ordering the Stranges. Wish me luck. Ha.

Well I have the Strange drag brakes up front and the wilwoods in the rear .. I've driving the car from NJ to Bowling Green KY with no problem. I also drive the car on a regular basis and still no problem. I ust have over 7000 miles on them and the rotors are still fine ..

All you have to do is remember that you have them on the car and start to stop a little earlier. I say get the strange brakes. You will be happy with them..

i always use the race kits on frt[with harder pad] never had one warp,we use the streets in back because we always keep the emergency brake , and we get them drilled frt and rear[even if there slotted ]heres picts of back, i dont have frt picts, [ill get some this weekend] bob

38lbs off the front or from both the front & back?

Anyone know what the weight difference is between the Strange and the Aerospace? Any cons to the Aerospace?

Is their a reason you are drilling them? Further weight savings or is their some benefit besides the weight saved? What pad do you use?

Also is the 38 pounds savings off the front only or both front and rear?
