How to get under 3000-2900 lbs
#102
Im at either 3030,3031 or 3037 race weight. As you can see in the pic, the last digit of the scale display is kinda fubar. Scale is at Atco Raceway in NJ.
LS1/60E/10Bolt
RaceStar Drag pack 15/17
VFN Sunoco Hood
Pa Racing K member/ Spohn upper & lower control arms/ Strange Coil Overs
No Power Steering( stock rack looped)
Electric Water Pump
SE True Dual over axle Exhaust
No front bumper support
No AC(gutted dash of all stuff as well)
No passenger Airbag
No rear seats/seat belts
No front sway bar
No emission/smog stuff
Ozite carpet.
I only had the driver seat in for race day, but i do not have any lightweight race seats. They are knock off recaros, similar to a 6LE seat. Also have a 6LE Harness bar and harnesses in.

My glide is a fti level 5. aluminum valve body. 114lbs without fluid.
Rear axle was a quick performance at 167lbs. Waiting on my new narrowed MWC to show up and compare.

A spooled S60 is not as heavy as people want to think it is. 15lbs over a aluminum case 9" tops. I haven't weighed my car in sig on scales yet but in calculating everything i removed I must be at around 3050 without driver.

If you're gonna weigh these rears you have to include the tq arm or it will be misleading. A fab 9 will weigh less and decidedly less in a fair comparison partly due to the design inclusion of the tq arm.
My mwc fab 9 only weighs about 10lb more than the 10bolt including tq arm if that. The mwc tq arm is lighter than stock to as with the transmission crossmember. So unless your ditching the tq arm and all the brackets that go with it then it's not apples to apples.
I bet the entire package could weigh less with a mwc fab 9 vs a 10bolt and not using a spool. I wish i woulda weighed all of both.

lol that's too weird. I hadn't noticed this until just now when I returned to the thread. Anyone else want to confirm the weight of their 35spl S60 with spool (no brakes)...

I just did a search to see in case I got it wrong somehow. I found this....

Look this up under my name Ive posted all this
I saved 32.8 I think was the number going to a spool over the truetrac in my s60. And it was 196 with the TT, them 10bolt was 150 with the same parts/fuild. So its not that much more weight with the spool.

So I must have weighed mine correct. He is saying above that his S60 was 196 lbs with the truetrac and the spool saved 32.8 lbs so 163.2lbs. His probably is shortened more? Mine is shortened 1" overall from stock length (1/2" per side).

I seriously can't understand how you guys are getting those cars that light with stock stuff. We have a 96 Camaro completely gutted. Billet Specialties steering wheel, and Drag lights. Strange drag brakes, hubs, master and coil overs. Everything put back on was chrome moly. It does have a S60 th400 and iron LSNext block, moly frame connectors, and a 14 point moly cage. Vfn pin on Sunoco hood and hatch with wing. Lexan front and back. Moly bumper supports. Every bracket not used cut off. Two 10lb Nx bottles, Chute, and Wheelie bars with 12 gals of fuel in a aluminum cell in ttop well. And our car still weighs 3000lbs without the driver. We did not cut up the front end frame wise or radiator support. Only thing done to the doors is no door panels but does have crank windows that are still glass. Minimal wiring. I know we can loose some weight gutting the doors and use lexan door windows, And cut the front end up but damn those are light.

How I came to the 3050lbs no driver number..
Backseats/seatbelts all gone
Drivers electric seat base swapped for manual base
Underdash A/C heater unit all gone
Airbags gone
Momo steering wheel and adapter
Bunch of wiring and relays removed
Both internal bumpers removed
Midwest front bumper support
Front sway bar & brackets all gone
Windscreen washer bottle and radiator plastics gone
Gutted all the insulation backing from factory carpet
ABS and cruise control unit all gone
No spare wheel/jack
Factory amp/speaker removed
All heat shields removed
Weld 15x5 fronts with 185's (Weld rears with qtp's not much different to stock wheels)
10" torque converter (my t400 weighs same as 4l60e no converters, but 10" converter much lighter than stock 4l60e one)
I started with using the weight of a 99 base hardtop ls1 car as mine is ls swapped. I'm sure there was more things removed at the time that I weighed that I'm now forgetting. Added 17lbs for spooled s60 and 22lbs for UMI bolt on subframe connectors. Next weight removal for mine has to be a glass hood and lexan front and back window to recover some of the weight added when I install a cage. Also hopefully a pair of race seats with harness can end up lighter than the stock front seats. And also remove the interior door panels for some flat carbon or aluminum. I'd like to keep the car at around 3000lbs no driver but I wish it was lighter without having to start cutting pieces out.
Now that I think about it more ,TTur1996 yours seem about right with the weight with what you have because of your cast iron block.

That is with 40 spline and their tq arm mount which is like 11 pounds. The aluminum moser bolt through with pro gear is 54 pounds and strange non bolt with 28 spline strange gear is 52 pounds.
I asked because I weighed an s60 a couple years ago with caliper brackets and it was 220 pounds. i have no idea what diff or axles it had or even how much fluid was in it.

I did a search to see if somehow I got it wrong even though I know I couldn't have, and I found user "studderin" on here say his was 198lbs with truetrac (no brakes) and then lost 33lbs going to the spool. Now I'm betting his 198lbs was without oil so add 6lbs = 204lbs and his was possibly shortened.
220lbs seems excessive but if what you weighed was stock length and had oil in it.. and maybe one of the other carriers is slightly heavier than even a truetrac, I can see 220lbs. If I ever have mine out again i'll put it on the scales with oil and take a pic. I know it'll be 172-174lbs with oil. And a 9" for these cars with spool no brakes are what 145-170lbs depending on who's housing it is. There's really not that much in it when both are running a full spool.

No I weighed everything I took out and put back in and just figured it must be around 3050, after finding the kerb weight listed online for a base a4 hardtop ls1 car. I haven't actually weighed the car yet.

My hardtop 00 Z28 weighed 3440 stock.
I added/subtracted:
Sunoco hood
frame rails trimmed
rear seats, belts, brackets removed
took a heat gun to the seam sealer and scraped off the excess sealer
removed front sway bar
gutted dash, pass airbag, heat and ac
non power front seats
lighter carpet
3" CB with no tips which I'll be taking back further
All smog equipment
Front and rear bumper supports
removed some wiring no longer needed
heat shields removed
aftermarket deck with two speakers
I never scaled the car but weighed everything I either replaced or removed which can out to 315lbs. If I ever get it back together I'd be interested in what it ends up weighing once I swap out the K-Member and lighter wheels and a few other things.

Now I'm kind of agreeing with user: TTur1996 on how are some of these cars mentioned so light.

Well i have a ht car also. As i stated last time on the scales it weighed 2993. But it still has almost everything you took out lol. I think i did have the jack/spare out of it and the air bags are gone. I can't rememberif the front bar was on it.
. All seats/abs/sound deadening/seat belts/full monsoon stereo/full size battery/full hvacstuff was all there. I think it had about 1/4 tank of gas to.
Your car should be way lighter than mine unless you have alot of safety equipment in it.
