This is probably one of those dumb "if youre worried about it dont do it" type of questions, and if so I apologize. But hang with me. Those of you who have done tubular front ends and cut the front frame work and such.....any worry as far as insurance goes if the car ever gets wrecked? Mines going to be a street/strip car so im insuring it through Hagerty. Worried if I get in a wreck, total it, and insurance adjuster shows up to see cage/tube front/etc....they are going to boot the claim "because racecar".

Shouldn't be a issue. They know what custom cars are about.

This was when I still needed heat so I left this much of the heater box in and zip tied the HVAC controls to the cross bar with the head unit.

It was 3070 in this pic. Removing stereo, HVAC, door panels, catback replaced with a bullet hanging off the Y, and adding a 9” and passenger seat got me to 3010. There may have been more or less things done but I remember having the 9” and being 3010. Since then I’ve gotten a new hood that’s 20lbs lighter, gone back to a 10 bolt, and a couple other dumb things I can’t remember over the past 6 years since it’s been weighed but I wouldn’t be surprised to be 2900 because the 9” was stupid heavy.

All stock front suspension, no cutting, really spent no money on weight reduction until the hood.

First person I can say Ive seen go back to a 10 bolt from the 9 inch. Any reason why aside from weight? And what did you do to the 10 bolt to get it to hold up?

The 9” had 4.33 gears, was 3rd gen width so i had spacers, drum brakes and a spool. Was fun at the 1/4 mile but miserable on the highway and driving around town. I ended up changing my whole suspension and wheels and tires and everything thinking I’d have a go at road racing so I went back to a 10 bolt, but then I knocked up my wife, and then did it again, and so it’s sat. I’ll get a 9” again, but this time it’ll have different gears and not a spool and be 4th gen width.

Not a Camaro, but I live in the PNW and have a car that does not have a heater box. The dash has also been moved back a bit, which leaves a gap between the dash and the base of the windshield. Also no insulation on the firewall. A working defroster is a big deal here, but this car does great without one as the heat off the firewall keeps the windshield fog free. We don't need no stink'in heavy heaterbox or ductwork!
