How to get under 3000-2900 lbs
I’m looking for guys who haven’t spent much money on weight reduction mods and want to k ls what weight your at. I keep getting weight out of my car but I really don’t know where I’m currently at so just trying to compare.

I do not consider that an "easy" goal. Attainable yes without a doubt. Weight reduction requires time, money, or both. And some weight mods, lots of both.

If he's looking to do a street/strip car with emphasis on strip it's pretty easy.
If he's trying to keep it a more decent street car with amenities then yea it's gonna take a bit more.
It's pretty cake to get these things in the 31xx rage and still be a normal car. Fuel load dependant if course.

I basically went over the weight reduction thread, and figured out what i could live without. At first its free, then it costs a little, then it starts costing more then gain HP. Where you stop is up to you. I'm currently sitting under 3k, turbo 4l80e car, with nothing holesawed and not a ton of clues that its that light by looking at it.

Mostly strip car with some street. I currently have the car gutted with no interior, hvac , bumper supports, hole sawed a few pieces and I’m running a kidney for a driver seat. My next project is to cut the bowl back and remove the wiper motor and power steering. I’m also running a pin on fiberglass hood .

Youre on the way to achieving your goal then! Lots of people dont fully remove ac, cut cowl etc and wonder how you got your car so light. Gotta do better then a swaybar delete to really trim weight.

Can't really tell anything much is done to mine either. Last time out the my car was about 3080. But that was with 3/4 tanks gas, all my dd junk in it. I still have hvac, cruise, abs, rear seats/belts, jack/spare and stereo. I did have race front seats in it then tho.

Go weigh it and report back!

That really good with the extra weight of the turbo styff and 4l80.

I’m real happy for the RSM guys. Their turbo headers and tubular front end are blowing up. I ordered mine directly thru them but now BTR and Motion RW among other are carrying it.
It dropped around 15lbs for me since I had already modified my rad support. If you haven’t touched that then it will be around 30lbs. Main thing for me was opening up a bunch of room for turbo activities.

Yeah Im good now, but it would be for extra room later (ie bigger turbo). Plus i like being more unlimited on what radiator, intercooler, and fans i can run. Opening the front end up opens up a million possibilities.

I'll put mine on the scales in drag form here again soon. With what I've done it probably hasn't changed much tho. Add a little here ....lose a little there
I do havr a tube k coming for it. I woukd like to do the carbon roof. Not so much for the weight reduction but because bubbles.

If that's with driver your on crack. my car is cut up and tubular everything. kirkeys but stock glass, stock brakes and chromoly cage the car weighed over 3,300 with driver. Note this is with iron block. maybe aluminum block is 80-90lbs lighter. if so then i'd be 3,200 and some change. 2,900 is very difficult with driver. you need tube front end, 1 piece clip, glass doors and hatch and lexan for sure.

I believe Jake quoted the 80e to being about 40lbs heavier then a 60e. Converter likely another 10-15. Turbo kit weight was almost offset by the full 4" exhaust I pulled off the car. Here recently I just did rear seat delete including belts and brackets, Wolfe aluminum door panels, and kirkeys. I have not weighed it recently but based on my estimates I should be under 3k. How much under Im not 100% sure. I also run 1/2 tank+ at all times due to not having a fuel pump bucket anymore. Looking at maybe that tubular front end kit and some rear wheel tubs this year. Those would be another 75lbs. 10 point cage is gonna offset that though (90lbs).

And please stop referencing weight with driver, we dont know how much you weigh (goes for anyone reading this). Quoting race weight is fine (seems more relevant when talking et and mph) but talking about weight reduction mods its more helpful to know car only weight.

Well as drivers go they could easily vary 200lb. He also didn't say rw in the title. So i assumed car weight......which i would rather stay with because of said driver weight variable. But my rw last time out was 3250rw with the description above. I weigh about 170.
Now a cage and iron block will add to that.....but I'm far from crazy
A car like that should go less than 2800 with ease.
