Default Anybody who has raced at Bristol dragway, come inside.

finally got some good runs in with my new setup. Welds, E.T. streets, hammer cam, headers, and pulley.

My previous best before all this was a 13.29 @103 but averaged 13.35@102.5 1.84 60'

My first runs with the new setup on street tires was a 13.02@108.5 2.10 60'

I ran on E.T. streets with 20 psi and got a best of a 12.706@106.66 1.77 60' (spun)

For all of you who have raced here know what a sucky altutude we run in (1790 actual) that day the D.A. was 3878 ft.

Are these times good for what I have? How muh hp do you think I am running with these times? I know I have picked up a little

By the way, I raced a '02 Z06 twice and spanked him both times. He never even pulled up on me on the top end. Feels good spanking a $50,000 car with a $20,000 car

1 Stout Z,

This is very cool:
"By the way, I raced a '02 Z06 twice and spanked him both times. He never even pulled up on me on the top end. Feels good spanking a $50,000 car with a $20,000 car".

20 lbs. of pressure? Drop the tire presure until the Hot Rod stops spinning. I would try at least 15 lbs. Hell, I run 8 lbs of pressure in my Slicks.

12.70 is a great time. Get that 60ft down and you will be very stoked.

I've been going to Bristol since 1981. (IHRA then)...Bristol has always been slow due to da...NHRA Prostock cars are typically 4-5mph off norm at Bristol. When the GMHT mag came to town 2 years ago ProStockJohn, Mikey, etc came down and they all ran 12's...psj was 12.5ish....Mikey won the event with a 12.2ish....they all went back home and ran 11.5's to 11.75 with 6 more mph....welcome to Bristol...a beautiful but slow track.

I ran up there in April this year on a real cool night and went a 12.72 @ 104 1.67 60 ft. I think in the heat I'd probably be in the 12.90's if it hooked. If you ran on a Thursday night that would explain your traction problems. I'm going to run up there on their next Saturday race. You can pick up at least a tenth if not more in the 1/8 mile by running less than a hour away in Rogersville. I'd say you would be in the low 12's at a lower elevation track.

onfire- I have been bracket racing here since '97 and I must say that the track looks a whole lot better now than it did before. I know what you mean, it is still slow. Too much altitude, but the closest 1/4 mile track to me(10 minutes).

I think you said you saw me at the track one day I was changing my slicks, wasn't that you?

You have a good memory...that was last year....here's another data point for ya...I talked to Wayne Shaw (NHRA Stock Eliminator LS1) on Thursday....his car runs 10.50's at 126 with 404rwhp (gotta love the SE) at other tracks....he ran a 11.19 at 119 Friday at Bristol....he was down 7 tenths and 7mph....guy has held 19 national records and umpteen championships....running a nice ws6 ls1 Stock Eliminator.

Does Bristol let you run slicks on Thursday or only DOT's ?

I went 11.75 in Chicago, packed up my stuff and went 12.4 at Bristol LMAO. BradWS6 was just a hair slower also ran 12.4's... Mikey was running high 12.2's and he won our class. DA was like 4000 that day and it was arguably the worst air I have ever raced in. I went from 114mph in Chicago to 108mph in Bristol. Mikey won because he would launch higher and higher. I tried every trick I knew to go faster and leaving the heat on between runs is what probably made me 1/2 tenth faster than Brad.

Pretty track though...

jswhite-They used to let you use slicks on thursday night but you could not run the "run for the trophy" event at the end of the night. Now they have eliminated slicks all together from what I have heard from some of my friends but last thursday there were quite a few cars running on full slicks.

PSJ-Thanks for the reply, I was wondering what kind of mph you ran. I could remember the E.T. but not the mph. Makes me feel good knowing that with a little bit more I will be running what you guys were running here atGMHTP.

Let me ask all you Bristolites this- did it seem like the starting pad was a smidge up hill. I've ran there twice, the GM EFI Nats in 2000 and last year for the Year One Bash. Both times my car seemed to roll backwards on the pad, twice causing me to red light. 6 speed, no line lock BTW, I ran a 13.45 at 104-1.90 sixty foot in 85 degree weather bone stock down to the Firehawk radials. How do ya'll think I would have done at a good sea level track like the one in N.J. that ALWAYS GETS THE "GOOD TIMES" ie, the Mustang and Fast Fords track were they got a 12.90 or what ever with the 2001 SS.

I've heard the track has a slight uphill grade to it.

You have to hold the hand brake to keep from rolling backwards at Bristol....1% upgrade at the pad...rumor is NHRA mandates a 1% for all new tracks at the pad for the Nitro cars..a 13.4 is one of the fastest stock times I've seen at Bristol for a ls1.....most run 13.8 to 14.2 at 98 to 102 mph.....that would have been a 12.9 et at a sealevel track if the track hooked.
