I'm Back!
After many months of planning, building, more planning and arguing with Nick about what we were doing, the new motor fired 2 weeks ago. I finished up the car last week. I decided to bag the N02 this year. Just not my thing. So the new motor is a 422 solid roller attached to the same TH-350 trans. A new "5000" stall converter was installed along with a 4.30:1 gear set. I put in a wolf rear sway bar and a Spohn torque arm.
When I dynoed the car, it was obvious that we had a converter issue. It was stalling at 6500!!! I decided to race it anyway knowing I would not make it through the traps. We went to Englishtown this weekend to the F body nationals and I was right. I had to back off every run so I did not hit the limiter. My shift light is set to 6800 to try and avoid it being on all the time. Well as soon as I launched, it was on and pretty much stayed on the whole time. I fully expected to be making 11 second runs because of this but much to my surprise, I manage to click off a 10.44 last run of the day when it was the hottest! My best 60' of the day was a 1.400 early on but for the most part they were in the 1.5 range. The track was not the best and the tires were spinning slightly. The car hung the tires a foot off the ground on the 1.400 60'.
So the converter comes out this week to be re-stalled and will be looking to run again soon after that to see if a gear change is in order. All-in-all, I was happy since this was the first time out after fininshing the combo last week.
By the way, the car weighed in at 3438 with me in it, both stock front seats and full exhaust. Once I pull the exhaust and seats, it will be close to my target of 3400. No 3000lb shell for me. It has to look pretty too!
Once I get the combo all worked out, I want to see 9's again but this time it's all motor and will look sweet while doing it.
Thanks very much to all the guys at Agostino Racing for once again providing a killer motor.

Re: I'm Back!
Thanks Guys...
Guess I should have mentioned that this was through a full exhaust (no cut-out). Stock throttle body (couldn't get the POS BBK to work) and port matched LS6 intake.
Power was 487 rwhp on that converter and we couldn't measure the torque.
Here are some 1/8th mile times for you. Do the math and tell me that 9's are close...eh?
Best 1/8 ET: 6.649
Best 1/8 MPH: 103.93
First time out. All at 3440 lbs and remember, it was 90 degrees and humid...

Wieght Loss Idea: Did you try washing the car? It must have sat for almost a year. Probably have 50lbs of dust in it. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_tounge.gif" />

Holy Mackerel!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
130 mph N/A sounds pretty sick. <img border="0" alt="[barf]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_barf.gif" />
Now drop some weight off that PIG. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
Oh, the solid roller is so tempting. <img border="0" alt="[chug]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_chug.gif" />

Re: I'm Back!
Mikey,Is the weight u got on your car from the E-town scales?Or did u weigh it near your house?
I have found there scale to be off +/- 150lbs at times.Dont ever use E-towns scale unless its on a NHRA event day.
In that heat to run those numbers was impressive for sure.Wait til u get he verter setup properly and get some good fall air.

Re: I'm Back!
JS: The car was weighed at a local scale (landscapeing place) and also at E-town. Local was 3449 and E-town was 3438 so very close. I figure 3440 is about right. I have some more work to do on weight. Brakes, rack, bumper supports, etc.
BTW: Any runs on your beast yet? You must be chomping at the bit as it's been finished for some time now. Tell your boss to stick it where the sun doesn't shine and go racing!
