Finally had some trouble in paradise about a month ago. Forgot to update everyone. So I went to a test day the day before street car takeover here in michigan. The car kept blowing the tires off and then a couple big wheelies. I jumped to conclusion that it was just hot out and I needed to slow it down, loosen the front etc. I had a suspicion that I broke the diode in the trans when I finally pedalled and ran it down track as it shift dropped 3,200 rpm and felt like every bolt in the car was shocked with force.
well I was correct I broke the diode already with 21 complete passes and 12-15 failed attempts or lifting passes. making a total of about 35. So I was a bit dissapointed.
I put the spragless slug back in the car on the sidelines so I could still compete. coasted to a 7.3 for our first test pass of the "street racer class"
First round of elims the bitch broke. I assumed the input shaft that was already bent. Packed it up and hung out the rest of the weekend with friends.
Got home and tore it down to find that the pump was destroyed. So that was sweet.
I was a little irritated that ptc put a 5 strut diode in a 2,000hp car. I lost the event to a handful of bottom 8 and 2 cars that ran 7.8 and 7.9's. So a little more irritated I could have won that $3,000 or so and also had a shot to reset the 1/4 street racer record over the Twin turbo BBC green mean machine of rick prospero. but its whatever. hotel, fuel, time off work, travel miles, and a grand or so in broken trans parts. trans out 4-5 times to get it all the way resolved.
So i went and ordered a hughes. Called ptc and they go "you wanted a diode, you insisted"
Correct I did insist. On something more suited for the power or I would have stayed spragless.
Now its hot as hell out so I decided to take the summer off and recoupe some of that 5-6 grand I wasted and spent fixing the trans and new converter lol.
Ill be back out with some cooler weather to try this hughes. Shes a little looser down low so we will see how it runs to the 1/8th with it.
You sure have had quite the list of transmission issues, that sucks. I’m curious to see how the new Hughes converter works out for you. They are local for me so if I decided to go with them I will have close support and wouldn’t have to deal with shipping. Main reason I went with their glide, the refresh, upgrades, and repairs will be easy.
Dam it Kenny Lmfao. Is that a 300M shaft? Brother, you are the man. I can't believe how good you got that car rollin. But I guess for anyone that knows you or follows your threads is not surprised at all. Congrats Man. If anyone deserves it, you do. Thanks for sharing all your knowledge and real life experiences with us. Can't wait to see what the 107 hair dryer will do next.

Weird Chain of events for sure. If I had the experience under my belt of how these act with a broken sprag. I would have quit running the car right away and pulled the diode out. I just kept making excuses. Like it was hot outside. I put the bigger turbo on.
In the end the converter was basically locked up and acted similar to a clutch. Just struck the tire. Brutal shift drop. No slip at all.
That is what bent the shaft.
My own fault for keeping trying.

IT is FTI's ER100 material ringless. Awesome shaft. When that diode was locked up. It shift dropped so damn hard at 3,000 rpm. Im so glad I didnt sling rods out of the block.
Im working at it man! PEte from hughes sent me a couple stators to try out in the event this one is a little on the loose side.
Welllll the 3.89 was a bit too radical. It was violent at the hit and in the heat needed a ton of power taken out to strike the tires so it really wasnt worth it. Best 60 of two days was a 1.12 .... so I pulled it out and put the 3.50 back in and booooom. back to 1.09s right away.
