Madman did it!
Just because a motor is technologically superior doesn't really make it faster, just more expensive.
Again, this is still about the 4th gen suspension and who's the fastest in it. ARE's got the fastest LS1, Madman has the fastest 4th gen suspension car.
Again, congrats on a kickass afternoon/evening!

Some people take this stuff too seriously....can you imagine the **** that would be going down on an internet message board if all the winston cup drivers had one? LMAO.....they'd all be yelling about bumping and how it isn't fair

I am with the group here that thinks Madmans comments are inappropriate and undeserved. Think about the two recent events that led up to this.
Event 1: ARE first in the 8s with stock style suspension with an 8.92
Event 2: Madman beats that mark with a lower time.
To understand why some of us dont like MADMANs comments you just need to read both posts. Nineball posted the original thread on the ARE car going 8s. There was NO bashing of MADMAN by Wade or ARE guys...as a matter of fact he wasnt even mentioned.
Now go to the begining of this post.
First words from MADMAN:
quote:
*** getcha some ARE!! 8.75 @ 156 1.260 60'
Can you run? Were's your money bitch??

Those type of comments along with the two or three other posts in the drag racing section calling out ARE is not exactly the type of profesional behavior I would expect from a sponsor...especially towards another sponsor.

WOW!! Madman you went from a respected sportsman to a GIANT SIZE ******* ALL IN ONE WEEK good for you!!!

Well said. Show a little class Madman. You obviously have a fast car. BUT, it's not that fast for you to be talking the kind of **** you are. High 8's is by no means a world class run in a non LS1 car.
ARE should be very proud of their accomplishments and they are obviously quality people.

What's your fastest LS1? That is what I am interested in - especially on LS1Tech.com.

ARE clearly stated a few days ago that they wouldn't be able to make the almost pointless (for them) 1400-mile trip. The car is fast, but there's no need to attack another sponsor, simply because he was the first to the 8's.

I guess I don't see how it would pointless. Your promoting your shop, what it can do, and there is no better way to promote your shop to your target group of money spenders than to go a shootout like the Thunder Shootout. So what if it causes them to lose a days worth of business. Put someone behind the phones at shop, take down names and numbers, call people back who wanted to buy your product because came to the race, showed well, and put your face in front of the masses. I'm sure that about 99.9999999% of the people here would understand why there product will be pushed back a day or two, if they did tow to the race. Think of all the business they could have generated if they had showed, put down great numbers in front the masses. I'm sure MM will be getting more phone calls on Monday morning because of what he did. In order to make money, most the time you have to spend it, and if spending it means racing the fastest heads up after a 1400 mile tow then thats what needs to be done. Congrats again MADMAN!!!
This is silly
I was expecting MADMAN to run a LOT faster than he did.
Wade runs 8.92@155mph OFF the footbrake with nitrous hitting about 5 feet out.
Short time of only 1.39 (which isn't all that great for an 8 second car)
With a good clean nitrous launch off the T-brake Wade will go 8.7's@~157 just like Madman did and a sixty in the 1.2's.
I give Madman props for running the number and I am sure he has more in the car.
BTW what is MADMANS raceweight? Is he running FULL interior like Wade is with ALL interior panels/carpet/front seats in place?
If he has a 3000 pound raceweight car then the difference in times is explained ENTIRELY by the weight difference in the two cars Wade could easily take out another 200 pounds and run high 8.7's LOW 8.8's OFF the FOOTBRAKE!
So while Madmans ET/MPH is a great accomplishment for a stock suspended F-body, Wade's ability to take a factory resleeved, factory headed LS1 to the 8's on stock suspension is even more impressive IMO
LS1's in the 8's = 1 (ARE)
Stock suspended LS1's in the 8's (MADMAN and ARE)
Built SBC's in the 8's (thousands)

Anyway Congrats Madman your car is flying

Guys,

The Shootout rules required that the Pro-Outlaw Class weigh in at AT LEAST 3200 lbs. We were very strict on the weight issue and the cars were put on the scales after each pass. Madman's car weighed in at 3208 lbs. (I just checked the log book from the scales.) The rules also stated that the cars must have full interior, including both front seats, and this was checked for also.
