Help me settle this self debate...
Since I can't cut better than a 2.2 60' on my street tires, I've decided I definitely need some Nittos. Here's my question: What would be best? Getting 17" DR's and just getting them on my ZR-1's before I go to the track and take them back off whenever? Or would it be better to just buy some 16" rims and keep the DR's on those at all times? Give me some pros and cons to each

I wouldn't expect much difference between the 17 and 16 DRs for most cars. The extra sidewall isn't as big of a help because the sidewall is so stiff on a DR. Save the wheel money for when you need to buy a set of 15's for the ET streets.
I've clipped off plenty of 1.75 to 1.79 60's on the 17" DRs in H&C trim with a SY-3500 on a well prepped tracks.

Practice my man......PRACTICE!!!
If ya cant cut better than a 2.0 on street tires than you need ta practice. No flame intended but DR's would'nt be as great an investment if ya didnt know how to use them.
If its a M6 then you should be able to get 1.8-1.7 60's. If its an A4 then 1.8-1.9's
Good luck, Stu

Well I know I need to practice and I will. It's an A4 by the way. But I wasn't really asking which would give me better traction or times, I was just wondering what ya'll did. Either mount them on seperate rims or just keep them on all the time.

Keep them on all the time if you like to play on the street. You've got the pride factor of rolling on to the track without needing to change anything.
BFG may have a minor .02 or so advantage on a good day ath the track but they can't compete with the Nittos on the surface streets for durability.
You should be able to have fun on a set of Nittos and get from 5-7K miles on a set. The are decent in the rain for the first 1/2 depth of the tread pattern. Shoot, I rolled them until Dec 24th last year and they are still on at the moment up here in Michigan.
