Talking What is the "Record" for stock bottom end?

.. any other set-up, any power adder, any transmission. Only requirement would be a totally untouched stock bottom end. Heads/Cam, bolt ons and power adder only. I'm not asking for any weight breaks - my SS with me weighs 3515 (I know the SS needs to go on a diet - that's for this winter).

I need a new goal. This racing season has been a bust due to so many changes and down time to the SS. Just got a set of new 30x9x15 Goodyears (had to cut the fenders, but actually looks really good). Better air is on the way. I'm trying to figure a way to go with a 2-stage nitrous system - again totally stock, untouched, bottom-end.

As you can see, I'm posting on a Sunday morning - so that means 2 things - 1 the track is closed (again) and 2 the SS is down again (tranny again). And I'm bored.

Thanks

David

Totally stock bottom end twin-turbo. Now that is impressive.

7 tenths of a second is a hell of alot. Doubt that a 50 extra shot (even with good air) will do it. May 75 to 100 extra (total of 225-250). It would be nice to try. Knowing my luck, a short block will be needed afterwards God my shop loves me. I have the suspension, rear-end, tires, now just to get a 2nd stage set-up.

navy - get that good air ( i doubt you get it like FL or TX) in the wintertime and get that raceweight into the 3300 lbs area and you have a real good shot. not easy tasks. but good luck!

David,

9.85, wow that's a tuff mark that was set. I know both of our cars have more in it with you not being able to run it out the back and mine launching soft with the 3.70s. You get your tranny fixed and I'll get my new gears and we'll take a run at it together

New Goodyear 30x9 are on - fenders "trimmed" - I now have plenty tire to finish through the track. New Wolfe sway bar is in - is 1.3's 60' possible . Tranny is another story. No 2nd gear (1st is 1st and 2nd is also 1st - some say valve body, some say differently - I "should" be back together by Friday. It's off the track. Poss Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

I think it would be great to even get into the 10.2-10.3, now 9's I don't know. Our track wouldn't give me much **** on all the reg's for 10's - at least not right off.

I "think" I found a fairly safe way to add another 50-100 shot just in 2nd & 3rd gear without flipping a switch But that will be another time.

I'll be goin for the record shortly........My stock heads, stock cam, stock bottom end, bolt on car with a dual 200 wet/dry setup went 10.28 @129 at 3400lbs........I've got a tighter converter ( 3600 on the brake instead of 4700), Kooks 1-7/8 headers, and about 200lbs weight reduction trying to go 9.99999 at the Thunder Shootout.......I've got my fingers crossed for good weather, BTW the 10.28 run was in 2500+ DA....Then it's time for a cam

I was only kidding about the LS1Tech only anyway

01WS6TA. You are totally stock engine - bolt on onlys - and you are shooting a "dual 200 wet/dry" setup? I thought I was nuts on a stock bottom end. What's your red line - has to be stock 6250. I'd like to know at little more on your suspension, tires, etc nothing in signature.. Maybe a run down of one of time slips. I thinks it is great. Learning is knowledge.

Mike holds the record he went 9.6s in the mid 130s. He still daily drove that car with ac all the time it was turning 9.6s. The h/c on that car were nothing radical at all, small hyd roller. It just goes to show if your willing to work on your suspension and get every little bit out of the power to hook, you can acomplish some amazing times. He started his own shop not to long ago and is doing very well, Icon Auto Sports. I highly recomend them, great shop and Mikes a good guy. My entire goal with my car is similar to that car.

Ok Ok Mike has the record 9.69 at 135.0. Just watched the 2 videos of his car. That is one bad *** car.

Still have to have something to go for. I'd only have to drop let's say .9 of second

David, I'm betting those 30" Goodyears are going to look very sweet tucked.

9.69... Well I think I'm going to have to cry MERCY. I'll be happy if my setup pushes the bottom 10 envelope and if it ever goes 9s on the stock bottom end it will be with my 150 shot.

Eric
