What would a Lightning run without a s/c?

My L' went into boost-bypass once (happens when you over rev the blower)...and ran a 15.40 @ 94 mph. I thought I was gonna die of old age before I hit the traps.

Really doesn't seem that bad considering.
A buddy of mine's dad has a 99 Lightning. Due to some agressive chip tuning and a lil nitrous, it exited a rod through the side of the block. Warranty, bwahahaha. $6000 for a new Lightning motor... or $8000 for a 514ci BBF crate motor ?
Well without the supercharger, and with a 1050 Dominator it sure sounds nice
No runs yet and I don't like to predict, but it made 618hp at the flywheel. There's a Nitrous plate in the near future.

Notice the part about "exited a rod through the side of the (stock) block".
If everyone thought like that, no one would have 9sec LS1s.

Ain't that the truth... Ya would almost wanna work with whatcha got sometimes!
That's a fairly mild 514, no? I hope he doesn't plan on any racing with that little airfilter on there. And what's with that old school distributor? Problem getting something newer? And finally, why would the L2 5.4L be so expensive to replace? I can only think he priced seriously upgraded parts, or that included the s/c.
BTW folks, I took the 99 F-250 out and ran 16.60's@80+mph one night (3 passes). It's factory stock and weighs 5700 lbs. and is powered by a 5.4L Triton V8 w/ the 4 speed automatic. Not bad, for a sled. Much heavier than a Lightning, but it gives an idea for comparison. I wonder what the 5.4L F-150's run??
What other distibutor could he have used ? Heh, I mean it IS carbuerated now, lol. That air filter is all that would fit, and even it required some uh, "clearancing" with a BFH. The open element K&N on there flows alot better than most closed top air filters.
Now if we can only get him to take it to the track...
I know a kid with an older lightning before they had blowers and his runs 14.7 or something like that. So its a boat anchor.

If it ran 14.7, it has a few mods. Anyway, that's an entirely different animal to work with than the 5.4L of today. I happen to know the owner of the "World's Fastest Lightning" and he's agreat guy and that truck is SICK! It ran 7's with a single turbo and now, it's got twins...

I'm sure that one works though. A larger filter wouldn't fit? Ewww bummer... I'd remove it for racing then. I think that one's too small for the carb. I have the open lid and a 14" round filter on my car and no lack of, issues! I think that 1050 would suffer though, even with the "lid" as a clear advantage.

It's fast.. but barely anything to call it a Lightning anymore. Chopped channeled and shorten the last time I saw it... in fact it was For Sale...
