I'm cool with every thing but the ET part. You guys are saying who post the BEST ET OF THE RACE WINS? If that is what your saying thats cool but I'm out, I don't want to drive 14 hrs, line up on side of someone (who may or may not be able to drive, react) TREE them, get to the finish (with maybe a slower ET and LOSE!) Thats not drag racing, the first to the finsih wins!! I may have a slower car, but I want the chance to kick some azz!

Jason...as it pertains to out little group, then yes, it is an ET challenge. It started as a way for a group of us to get together in one place and see who really is quickest. I don't see changing that. However, if you'll click on the link above, you'll see where there are several classes that you can run in at the main event itself.

I don't know if I want to open this can of worms, but if the organizers of the North/South Shootout wanted to actually make this a class, then I suppose there could be some sort of eliminations. We could potentially have a "winner" of the "Internet ET" and also a class winner (3 qualifying rounds, Sportsman ladder, Pro Tree, single eliminations).

However, as soon as you do that, the rules get thrown to the wolves again, people start in with the "I want this and I want that" routine, everybody wants the rules to favor them, blah blah blah. I'll gladly head the organization of a class such as this, but if so, the rules stay as is, and, of course, the guys putting the main race together have to acquiese.

I may just try to line up a stock / new motor for this one...pull my heads / cam motor out and put the other in. My car has the interior in it, 6-pt, etc. Thanks.

Wow, that would be awesome if Y2K Blackbird and RUQWIKR both came. I still disagree with the lack of a weight minimum, but I'll still race! <---notice compromise

Definitely agree with the "Internet ET" race. If we could have a bolt-on class in addition to our "Internet ET Challenge", that would absolutely rock. I may just have too much fun. Getting to finally meet and race against the top dawgs in our little bolt-on world would just be sweet. I've already put in for three days vacation at work. So PLEASE everyone show up.

Bob, unless I'm just retarded, I missed the part in your 2nd rule posting that mentioned bumper supports. What have we decided on those?

RUQWIKR ...bring it out! Be advised that the motor has to be as delivered from the factory stock. Not a rebuild, and no work (at all) done to the heads, cam not moved, etc.

Rageman...tks for compromising. I did too, as I would have preferred A/C, P/S, etc. As far as I am concerned, bumper supports and such are a dead issue. If you have em, great. If you don't, great. Hell I might even take mine out now.

Let's race.

Heck, I've got the original trans fluid in the car except what went in the new converter.

If not, I am planning on coming and at least running the brackets.

No matter what I'm there, I raced two classes at the Thunder race. I just think a drag race would be fun too!!

Can we give Bob a hand! :applaud:

I'm with Jason on having a true drag race, but I don't care if it's just an ET thing either. Both would be nice though..

And I guess as long as you're photo friendly interior-wise, a minimum weight isn't an issue with me. Since that's(interior) where it seems to get really crazy..

And just to be sure - not having a cage is not an issue there when running mid 11's?. I plan on having one by then, but...

Lane & Jason....if ya'll want a "true" drag race, then petition the event organizers for a class. I suggest a private e-mail, as they may have issues with the event that they would rather not publically discuss.

I'll volunteer to run it, with the rules we have outlined here. However, they have to buy off on the idea.

As for 11's and such....Beech Bend is an NHRA track. Take that at face value. However, I have NEVER EVER seen them care about rollbars for 11 second cars, or even ask about them. I hope to have a bar by then myself, but if I don't, I'm not worried.

How's that?

Mods at the time of my best run(s):

Fast Toys Ram-Air Kit
Hacked-up lower airbox
Direct-Flo airbox lid
Granatelli MAF
RAGEman-ported TB
TB bypass
160 T-stat
HPPIII
ASP underdrive crank pulley
Pro 5.0 shifter
Grotyohann 1-3/4" longtube headers
Grotyohann 3" off-road Y-pipe
Borla catback exhaust (wide open)
PS bypass via short belt
Polyurethane bushings in the rear LCA's, torque arm mount, and transmission mount
26" x 11.5" x 16" ET Strets on 16" x 8" silver T/A wheels
165R15 Volkswagen tires on 15" x 3.5" Draglites

DA was good (wish I could find out which of the most commonly-used DA calculators were accurate). SLIGHT tailwind. Track prep was top-notch. Raceweight was 3200 lbs.

Upcoming upgrades include a lighter (and hopefully better-performing) exhaust (true duals with Dynomax bullets and turndowns), a 4.56-geared 31-spline Ford 9" rear with a spool, RAM iron disc clutch setup, 28" x 10.5" x 15" ET Drags w/Draglites, a carbon fiber or perhaps metal matrix driveshaft, and perhaps even a slight weight-loss program.

Sounds like a fun race. I have one question about the transmission rules. Would a TH400 that has a gear vendors overdrive installed be legal? By your rules I think it would as you just state that the car must have a functioning OD.
