Who's yo daddy? (New best 346 A4 w/ST3500)
Well , we finally broke into the 10s tonight with the wifes' daily driver. We had it in our hands a month ago , but she broke the 10 bolt posi and tranny on the same pass with two back to back 11.01s. After letting Jayson at MTI tweak my timing to the sweet spot, tonight we ran a new best of 10.912 @122.26 mph with a 1.443 60 ft.This was backed up by several other mid 10.9X passes until the track went south on us. The DA was awesome with it being just over -2000 ft, but I am blown away by the potential of these cars. We are just a H/C (C1 hammer cam) A4 with the Yank ST3500 and stock 3.23s.....yes stock rear and transmission. Of course they have been rebuilt recently, but hell I got 20,000 miles out the originals so why stray. I am pumped up to say the least especially with such a mild combination. It is absolutely the ultimate daily driver street killer set up IMHO. My main mods are listed below and yes my wife will be taking the kids to school in it and from there to her work, isn't it great!
Original 346 block
C1 Hammer cam (112)
MTI Stage II heads
MTI custom tuning
Yank ST3500
FLP headers
Shaner S2 TB
Stock tranny and rearend (3.23s)
ET drags (26x10-15)
Race weight of 3475#s
Personal mods that seem to help
Thanks,
James

Very nice!
Can you post any pics of your car? MTI wont let me nab the picture off of their webpage.
That 3475 raceweight puts alot to rest about necessary raceweights for 10 second time slips.
You have 175 more pounds and about 1000 rpms less stall than many people say it would take to get in the tens. Nice job! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Thanks for the kind words guys. I still can't get over it, but I am even more amazed with Mikes 10 second cam only car. Now that is amazing. These cares just continue to blow me away.
Mike , I'll shoot you an e-mail with some pics. I don't know how to post them here on the board. You're welcome to though. Thanks again and I hope to meet you at the Spring break shoot out.

That is great running,a big congrats on hitting the 10s in a big way.I agree with mike H.,with a small stall,3:23s and over 125 pounds more weight than most[me,lol]you kicked butt.
I have to wait for the snow to go before we can get back to the track,I need about -1500 DA to hit the 10s.My 11.04/121 was at -700.

Re: Who's yo daddy? (New best 346 A4 w/ST3500)
3 reactions:
1) Wow! Great time - at a relatively heavy raceweight. And for only heads/cam/converter
2) It is all in the 60-foot - and that is how you got 10s. Congrats on an excellent 60-foot.
3) Makes me realize how much my converter is a POS. Glad I am getting rid of the thing come Tuesday.
Now time to add some spray to that daily driver!!

damn, i must say it's alittle hard to believe those cars run so good with just some port work and a bigger cam. H/C alone must add 175hp over just a bolt-on car... you must be putting out well over 430rwhp... very impressive for a n/a car

Those are wicked times with a ST3500!

I have to agree with ya there. I have had it on a dyno one time at MTI and it went 408 RWHP and I think like 387Lbs of torque. The car wasn't totally tuned in yet,so I too would guess it to be between 415-420 at the most. It is just an ideal combination that works very effecient. It is also as streetable as you could ask for. In fact my wife and daughter are shopping at the mall in it right now. Thanks again.
