Anyone daily driving Strange front brakes?
Are these safe for daily driving? Would they be ok with thicker rotors? Any thoughts and comments appreciated, looking to shed some more weight off the front end.

The drag brakes?
I went through this awhile ago.
I came to the conclusion that-
without a front bumper support,it wouldn't
be the best idea.
When I finally make the decision that the
car will be a full purpose drag car,I will do it.
They will probably be fine but I don't want to
chance it.They will fade after a hard stop.
Terry Burger 'daily drives' his car with
'aerospace' brakes and hasn't had a problem.
I will do it,I just don't know when.

The Strange are a little more streetable than the Aerospace stuff from what I have heard. How hard would it be to get some custom thickness rotors made?

I have been wondering this also. If not the strange brakes then which ones are light weight and can still be driven on the street.

Re: Anyone daily driving Strange front brakes?
i have strange brakes front and rear. due to the weather i havent been out much yet, but drove it around for about an hour a couple weeks ago. even after repeated stop and go for an hour they still stop WAY better than my old LS1 front/LT1 rear brake setup, so im sure they will be fine for any daily driving i do
since i havent driven much with them though i have no idea if rotor warpage will be a problem or not. hopefully it will warm up enough for me to start driving it in the next couple weeks and ill let you guys know how they work

Re: Anyone daily driving Strange front brakes?
You will need different hoses for these brake kits. Check www.billingsleyracing.biz for complete Strange brake kits including hoses/metric adapters for a complete bolt-on. We also carry "street" kits from Aerospace. These use a thicker vented rotor for repeated use. These kits also include the same hoses/metric adapters used in our Strange kits.
Thanks

do the aerospace street brakes offer a big weight savings like the strange brakes? what's the weight difference between the two?

Jay, which would you recomend for a daily driver?

Madman just put on a set of Strange front brakes on the Hot Rod and we loss about 43 lbs off the front.
I will let everyone know how they work in a couple of weeks.

Re: Anyone daily driving Strange front brakes?
We know a few people that use the Strange kit on daily drivers, but really don't recommend it. This kit is not designed for the heat buildup associated with repeated stops. For what its worth, replacement rotors are about $120 each.

43 lbs is killer! I would definately give up a few of those lbs for a thicker rotor option. Can you make this happen Jay?

I agree with Fenris,43 pounds kicks ***.I could live with 37 pounds off,add 3 pounds to each rotor for better street life.

Re: Anyone daily driving Strange front brakes?
FWIW the Strange setup is just like the Aerospace except it includes alum hubs. The alum hubs save around 3# each, but you lose ABS, as far as I know. My ABS works fine with the Aerospace drag brakes.
