Hood pins and daily driving with a pin on hood?
What hood pins do you guys recommend? I heard MADMAN make a good set? what about the zeus or something brand?
Also does anyone here drive around with a fiberglass pin on hood on the street? Does the hood rattle all over the place? I would be worried that due to road and engine vibration the fiberglass might crack around the pin holes?
Thanks,
Lee

Re: Hood pins and daily driving with a pin on hood?
Dzus fasteners are flush and look kind of
like a flathead screw. I've seen them used
on sheet metal interiors, I think they require
the metal to be "dimpled" some and don't know
whether this would let them be used on a
rigid 'glass piece, whether the needed
countersink would weaken the thing too much.
Maybe there're other Dzus variants that sit
on top?
I have hood pins on my '68 El Camino, its new
fiberglass hood was pretty low quality and
the leading corners flapping up at highway
speeds was a little unnerving. If you have
the bumpers underneath and the pin height
set up right, there'll be no place for the
hood to go. On mine, due to poor quality on
the piece and a lifetime of abuse and likely
an accident or two, the hood is an interference
fit to the fenders and nose, but I don't
recommend this as an approach <img border="0" title="" alt="[Razz]" src="gr_images/icons/tongue.gif" />
I used the Mr. Gasket ones (cheapo). There are
locking ones out there too (like the soda machine
locks, nearly-flush circular) but I didn't see
the point in locking down the grimy old 307, like
somebody would want to steal something off it.

do a search for pinon hood and the topic is something like new hood and lightweight carpet or new pinon hood and lightweight carpet. There are pictures of Terry's 4 pin setup. Hope this helps.
