10.88@125.40, heads/hyd. cam, 6speed!
I went out to No Problem Raceway this afternoon to see how the spare motor ran. I wasn't expecting too much since the warm air has rolled back in and it looks like it is going to stay for good. Luckily, it cooled off some this afternoon, so I was ready to head to the track.
For more info on this spare motor, take a look here:

Junk Yard Dog build up
Here is a quick run down:
-rebuilt 346ci shortblock
-GTP stage 2 truck heads
-TR230/224 .569/.563 111lsa cam
First pass off the street:
60' ... 1.506
1/8 ... 6.963
mph ... 99.18
1/4 ... 10.891
mph ... 125.48
Sweet! I have always wanted to run 10s with a hydraulic cam and I got it right off the bat! The car left well, but still spun a little. I hotlapped the car, as there really wasn't too many people at the track just yet and this resulted in:
60' ... 1.515
1/8 ... 6.954
mph ... 99.20
1/4 ... 10.880
mph ... 125.40
At least it was consistent. I let the car cool some and got one more pass in before eliminations started. I decided to leave at 6k this time (vs. 6200 before). Hopefully, this would get the car moving a little quicker. It didn't help.
60' ... 1.516
1/8 ... 6.965
mph ... 99.25
1/4 ... 10.900
mph ... 125.43
I dialed in a 10.85 for eliminations and won the first round match since the other lane redlighted.
R/T ... 0.591
60' ... 1.519
1/8 ... 6.961
mph ... 99.28
1/4 ... 10.881
mph ... 125.34
I decided to go for broke on the last run. I dropped the tire pressure to 13 hot and left at 6400. This seemed to do the trick, as the car left the best it did tonight. I was anxious to get the time slip.
R/T ... 0.591
60' ... 1.493
1/8 ... 6.948
mph ... 99.16
1/4 ... 10.880
mph ... 125.16
I was eliminated, as the other lane cut a .512 light and ran right on his dial in. lol
Overall, I was very pleased with the times and how consistent the car was! The air tonight was decent, but not like it was a few months back. The density altitude was 417' on the 10.8x pass. Raceweight was close to 3400 today as I had a half-tank of gas, y-pipe, etc. this evening. I really wished I would have brought the collector extensions to run open headers, as this is worth an easy .1/1mph. 10.7x@126 would have rocked!
I also am going to change out my valvesprings this week to a set of 918s. I'm going through the traps at close to 7k rpms and the 987 springs are defintely not up to the task up there. I was having to shift the car at 6500 (instead of the normal 6800-6900) because the valves were floating.
My evening was going along great until I went to install my hooker muffler/tips back on the car. I get the muffler in the hanger and go to install the 3 bolts that hold it to the intermediate pipe. I got one of the bolts in place and, as I was getting the nut started, the muffler falls down and smacks me above my left eye. Blood was everywhere and I ended up needing 5 stitches to close the wound and have a huge bump to show for all this. lol

That is an absolutely wild 60' on an M6 car man
I only wish I could come anywhere close to that and I would be where I need to be. What sort of supension set up are you running and gears and such. One of these days maybe I will get there. Congrats on the times I envy you.

That's awesome, Jason!
I've got to get to work on a spare motor for myself. It would be nice to never really have any down time waiting on stuff.

Those are some sweet numbers and times. I have a question though....you mentioned going from the 987s to the 918s. I thought the 987s were a better spring than the 918s and would work at a higher RPM. Whats the benefit?

Thanks guys!
Chad, all of my suspension mods are listed here:
Complete list of mods. Just ignore all the forged internal and solid roller stuff for this setup. lol
Moose, you'll get your 10s when you make it back out to the track. Good luck!
George, the spare motor was probably the best "mod" I could have done. The car was down 3.5 months waiting on cylinder heads to be repaired in Nov-Feb. of this year. It sucks being without a car, so I told myself this would never happen again.

Phil, the 918 is definitely a better spring. The issues people had with the 918 is the well documented breaking problem of last year. However, Comp has gone through some extra maching/quality checks on them before they are sold to the public. These are designated by the blue stripe on the side of them and we have had excellent results with them since the recall. The 987 double spring offers one definite advantage: If part of the spring breaks, you stil have another spring holding the valve up. You are less likely to drop a valve this way.
2000SILVERTA, the solid roller will be back in the car hopefully with in the month. It is going to have LS6 heads, a new cam, and valvesprings this time around. We defintely figured out the problem with the other setup and this one looks to be very promising.
