harold, if you can make one phone call and drop a 6 point roll bar rule down by 2 full seconds then maybe we should work on some of their other rules...
make a 5-6 point good to 9.5 and 155mph pretty please
*it also shows the wrong person is in charge of the rules*

i didnt even make a phone call. Just sent them a email. MIR gave me a guys addie there to ask about the new T top rule and he even asked what i thought was a good ET. I hadnt replied to the email and he had already edited it to 12.25 when i got home lol.
The latest reply said the rules were the same as NHRA regarding T top roll bar rules. But I dunno what those are. I shot him another email asking whats the exact ET because we all need to know whats going on for sure.
I thought it was 11.49 now for NHRA but who knows

Great Job...! Congrats to the IHRA for listening.
Now then, in the interest of progress and not having this come up every year, does ANYONE Know exactly who has crawled up the NHRA and IHRA's rear about T-top cars???? I assume its coming from a insurance underwriter or something
of that nature....?

I've sent an email to our Division 3 NHRA director in hopes of getting a clear answer on what NHRA's rules are regarding this matter. I've looked through my 2004 NHRA rulebook, but I have yet to find any good answers. So far all I've come up with is that any car running 135 mph or faster in the 1/4 must have a roll cage....
I'll keep you all posted....

As I already said, this will only result in more cars racing on the street rather than the track.
I drive my car daily and I don't have an option to install a roll bar. I drive my two kids to day care every morning and a roll bar would make the back seat dangerous. I've built my car to run mid-11's, right where the roll bar rule used to be. Changing the rule to 12.25 is a knee-jerk that throws me onto the street for the only place besides a very busy NHRA track to have fun.
I think this a move in the wrong direction for the IHRA and our local tracks.

Byron Raceway and Cedar Falls Raceway (owned by the same owner) are two IHRA tracks with a brisk and healthy street racer following come to mind.

CURRENT 2005 rules for NHRA are 11.49 and 13.49. I did NOT see a specification for t-top cars but I will go look
EDIT:NHRA Posting
Adjustment to E.T. requirements
In a move designed to encourage more street vehicles to compete on the quarter-mile, NHRA has revised its requirements for roll bars, SFI Spec clutches, driveshaft loops, driver restraints, and certain protective clothing.
Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, a roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. An SFI 3.2A/1 jacket will be mandatory for all drivers in vehicles running between 10.00 to 11.49 seconds. On any car running 11.49 or quicker, a flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and a flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, or 9.1 will be mandatory. A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower.
