Default 2005 IHRA Rule Update - T-Top treated same as Vert.!

10.00 to 11.49

Rollcage: Add at the end of the section, A rollcage is mandatory on all convertibles running 10.99 or quicker ¼ or 6.99 or quicker 1/8 mile. T-top vehicles follow convertible guidelines.

11.50 to 13.49 section

Rollbar / Rollcage: A minimum of a 6 point roll bar is mandatory all convertibles and T –Top entries running 11.00 to 13.49 ¼ mile and 8.25 or quicker 1/8 mile. A roll cage is mandatory on any entry that exceeds 135 mph.

Better not take your bone stock t-top f-body or Corvette to the track, you'll need a roll bar.

Looks like when everyone was so worried about NHRA doing it IHRA went ahead and slipped that in

Kinda sucks since most small local tracks are IHRA.

That's insane. Glad I race at an NHRA track. I'm all for wearing a helmet, but a roll-bar seems a little extreme. Especially since my car is in the higher end of that bracket. Sounds like the IHRA doesn't want to support the youth surrounding their tracks.

that's a big surprise considering IHRA usually treats their sportsman racers a little better/focuses more on sportsman racing than NHRA. Bet that will send a few peeps packing. We just had 2 IHRA tracks go NHRA here in Florida this year, wonder why?

That will be changed before '05 season starts, just watch.....There are just TOO MANY T-Top cars around and drag racing.....Or, you're going to see alot of IHRA tracks going out of business.... They have their head right up their *** with this rule. WJ

It's BS is what it is ... I'm not putting a full cage in my car just to run 10s!!! I already wasted enough money getting a roll bar in!

That sucks. The track I race at the most is IHRA. They let me make mid 10 sec. passes without a cage right now.

Good thing that LVD is not IHRA. My low 13's would get me booted if they were. Whoever made that rule probably has a mustang, and is tired of stock ls1 cars beating them

this is a very poor judgment ruling of ihra . stock cars are going to need roll bars? street racing will just get bigger

god stop!

Amazing, NHRA comes out with the pure stock rules for 11.50, then drops the roll bar requirement down to 11.50 and IHRA goes UP? Glad Florida only has 1 IHRA track left now, and I'm not running it anytime soon....

Very interesting. I wonder if they are doing this to save on insurance??? Or to honnestly make the sport a little safer.

There should be some sort of hybrid t-top roll bar mod you could do to your roof or something?? I dunno.

Has there been any problems with T-top cars running? I have seen one video of a car loosing it's top, but I have seen two hoods and one door fly off a car at a IHRA track this year and they are still allowed.

I gurantee if Mustangs came with T-tops this wouldn't happen.
