Default Wheels up - whats it like?

I mean, do you know you came up? Does it land back down hard? Do you ever feel like you will lose control. SHould you let off if you start to go wheels up

If your car is just getting to where it is pulling the wheels or feels like it then there is nothing to worry about. Now if your looking up at the sky and cannot see the horizon out the windshield when you launch its a different story. You don't ever feel like your going to lose control, theres just that thought in the back of you mind... is she going stop here and go down or am I going to drag the license plate? hehe In either case if you go vertical DON'T LIFT! your car will lose its forward momentum and can SLAM down often damaging the oil pan and headers. What you want to do is stay in it, the front will rise and set down suprisingly smooth on its own. Now if the front happens to come up on you and you drag the bumper stay in it and shift to 2nd gear... this will often bring the back down safely. If nothing works you then have to lift very little then get back on the throttle or you will slam the front down. One thing you may want to keep an eye on is the wall at the track, if you have a posi rear end. Sometimes the car can travel out of the groove.

If your pulling little 1 foot wheelies, you got nothing to worry about. Have fun they are crowd pleasers!!

eh its not big deal, especially in an auto car as you're not worrying about a clutch and shifter placement, but i have no issues in my 6 speed either.

i think the only "rooKie" mistake i've seen made by someone that was afraid of their car was to screw up and let the wheel turn while the front was in the air and so when they came back down they headed right for the other lane. its not impossible to do. the steering wheel obviously gets super light for a bit until the front lands again, keep that hand(s) straight.

only other precaution just be sure you are lined up straight, starting the launch off crooked in the first place is alot worse in a car that yanks the tires vs one that doesn't.

other guys covered the stuff for big wheelies already, those are just some things i keep in mind for my car to make sure she stays straight. worse i've done is drag the hell out of my exhaust tips and come down and smash up my headers pretty good(can see exhaust about to drag in a couple pics i'll attach here)

They can be a lot of fun, but big wheelies are the best for going fast... still fun though

you'll know when you feel the chassis unload and then put the tires back down the first time you pull a wheelie. Pulling one off a transbrake is bitchin

Yep, agreed to NOT LIFT!
