My '97 Formula crossed the NHRA scales after a run at 2820# with my weight (200#) in the seat and 25# of ballast in the box. It had Kirkey seats with complete floor carpeting, full tubs, a full chrome moly cage, an LT1 with TH200 trans, 9" Ford, 4-link and wheelie bars. All fenders, dash, doors, hatch w/glass, windshield, hood, and bumpers were stock parts. It was lightened but not gutted.

If there was a class to race in where a car that weighed 2400 lbs was legal, I could see a point to getting it that light.. but seeing how our weight rules don't allow anything even close to that.. what's the point? if you have to weigh 3200 or whatever it is... why get the car a ton lighter then that? I understand that putting the weight where you want is a good idea, I've raced radio controlled cars for years, and we get those as light as we can and put the weights on all different places on teh chassis for tuning purposes.. but there's a point that it becomes a hassle to put the weight back in.... kno what I mean?

Got it.
I'm aiming, to try to get to 2800 for what I want to race in, providing the small block stays in the car... big block power plant requires 3000 lbs, and honestly I really want to make that swap, but we will see on it at this point.
Regardless, I would like to be 100 under either one of the #'s so that I can move the weight around, and that's with driver, me being about 240 right now, aiming for 225 when I am done losing the extra. So, it's an agressive weight to get to for sure. But, I don't have any rules about what I can change, as long as it has an interior, and stock front suspension, I'm pretty much good.
