Default Lightest a F-body could be?

What do you all think a F-body could weight if it had EVERYTHING done to it, but still a stock frame. I'm talking Strang Brakes, VFN One Peice Front End, Hood, Aftermarket Hatch, Speedglass, etc, etc.....

What do you all think? ~2700lbs or even lighter?

Does it have to be NHRA legal? I would say 2600-2700#, but we're talking a sheetmetal dash, carbon seat and no rollbars.

Magnus' car is in the 2660 range, no driver. He has stock rear hatch, all glass, and a suncoast hood.

I think 2500 even is doable.

Using Keith's car, I think:

2660
-30 for pinon hood
-30 for hatch

That's with a 8 pt moly roll bar.

Keith does have wiring out of the car and stuff like that.

I think 2550 he can do, and 2500 would be hard but doable, with his cage.

remember that magazine article where they pulled off all the metal off a caddy? and then 20 years later they did it to an import of some type?

if you need a car that is 2500 lbs, why not just go with a prostock type car? even a backhalfed sheetmetal floor car is gonna be easier, cheaper, and look better IMO.

I haven't weighed my car yet but I'm shooting for a 3000lb or less race weight with my new combo.

It's gutted out right now, without engine or tranny and a skinny 16 yr old boy and myself can pick up each end of the car off the ground easily.

Ok Im at 2980. I can still do a pin on hatch, lexan, brakes, manual rack and maybe a smaller aluminum fuel tank. How in the hell do you get your car in the 2600-2700 range? I have door panels, dash, carpet, two Kirkeys and a 10 point chromoly cage. Other than that everything I can think of I have taken out. My front end is mild steel should I switch to chromoly instead?

You must be one strong *** mother to lift what is still 2000 lbs of car!!

Hell if you two can lift 1000lb of car I am damn impressed.

We arent just talking about unloading the shocks? You mean "off the ground"!! wow

Last pics I saw of Dave's car, there was NOTHING but a cage and a body. No wires, accessories, suspension, etc. There's probably more there, but he may mean two on one side and lifting one end off the ground.

im at 2975 with me now, im 160lbs
so thats 2815lbs right now without me
things still to do
pin on hatch with speedglass -50+lbs on a ta hatch
abs stuff under hood 10lbs
coolant tank gone for a catch can is a good 10lbs just in fluid
vfn dash would lose me another 7lbs or so
bogarts probably another 5-6lbs over my prostars
front head lights, close to 10lbs each
chromoly suspension stuff instead of steel is probably worth 20+lbs total
a manual rack
remove the alternator if you run a rear battery drag only car with charge terminals
go to a solid roof instead of t-tops 40lbs or so
gundriled axles, few lbs
lighter tranny
no brake booster
speed glass all around
i can get my car to the low 2600 range, this is in a ta with the t-tops still.

i would try it if there was a class that didnt have a weight requirement, i think there is as much skill in massive weight reduction as there is in getting the few extra hp to make up for the extra weight.

front head lights, close to 10lbs each

That is being very optimistic. Closer to 3lbs each is my estimate...10lbs of plastic is a LOT of plastic!

I could get my car in the 25xx range with a hatch and front windshield using speedglass, a race seat, a pin on hood. that would easily put it in the 25xx range..
