Default comp engineering rear shocks or what? advice on setting relo brackets?

i know qa1's are the best.. my rear shocks are a lil worn out imo... i drag race this car a lot.. but are the comps a good 80$ investment??? i should still run stock springs back there right? im sure someday ill do the fronts and ill go qa1 with those and there springs... but are these worth it or not?

i have a set of umi relocation brackets going on the rearend as well...

it appears to have two settings.. lower, and lowest u might say.. i see most of them do.. should i go all the way down to the bottom ones or should i go with the upper holes...

i have lakewood control arms, but i doubt that matters.

I run the comps on 50/50 and they work great. Ive had no luck with the relocation brackets.

I have the comps, they are a good investment. I am cutting mid 1.6s on 16 in. e.t. streets with a decent prepped track. There is more left in my setup, I am about to put my car on a starvation diet. 50/50 setting. 6speed.

I would definitely reccommend the comp shocks. As far as the relocation brackets, it's all a matter of how your car is hooking. Some guys dead hook and then bog in the lowest setting. Some swear by it. I would look at how the car is performing, how big a tire you're running, and how much power you're putting down to the wheels.

With your setup it is hard to say, I would think the lowest hole would be too much because of how tight your converter is. Just have to try it out.

Thumbs up

I`m pretty happy with my Comp. Engin. rears shocks. I have them set at 50/50 also and they seem to be working pretty well (1.53 60`s). Worth the $$$ in my opinion.

Just like everyone else I run the comp eng in the back at 50/50. I also have the QA1 "R" shocks up front. Best 60' was 1.42 with the 6-speed.

Yes, the shocks are adjustable. Your choice is 30/70, 40/60, and 50/50. They aren't as easily adjusted as the QA1's. You have to pull the shock out, compress, then turn the piston.

On the 50/50 setting I didn't really notice any difference from stock. On the 30/70 setting you will drag the *** of the car around every stop light.

It would all depend on your suspension set up. We had them set at 30/70 when the car was stock internal and it would bog really bad off the line. We then switched them to 50/50 and eliminated a lot of the bog. The car hooked great at the 50/50 setting after the camshaft was intalled and had great results with the nitrous on the same setting.

If you're making a ton of horsepower and your spinning off the line you may want to put them at the 40/60 setting and perhaps 30/70 if you need.

I just threw a set of these on since one of my stock rears was dead, anyone notice they are like 3" longer then the stock shocks or did I get the wrong ones? If I let the rear end drop with the frame on stands my rear springs almost fall out and its a pain to get both springs in the right place and jack it up at the same time

Setting was 50/50 for the 1.42 60'. I am using the stock rear springs.

Sorry for the delay.

Thats what I have here, they are ~3" longer fully extended then the stock shocks. They make one 2" shorter (PN C2705) but I'm not sure if its the same mounting points. Moved on on to DA strange shocks anyhow but thanks for the reply
