Can anyone confirm smokeum99ta's reply. If this is so, someone out there should know. I do not recall using anything off my old shocks, which where aftermarket,(Cheap *** stuff from Advanced Auto) when I did this install.

I called my buddy about your question. He seemed top think that it was a solid spacer on the shock itself that was rusted on.Hope this helps

Here are the pics of the old stuff. This spacer that I don't think I need w/ a the QA1's and the old shock. Not sure what could come off of this.

Your last picture shows the spacer im talking about. It looks like its made on there but it's not. Use some penetrating oil or whatever to take some of the corrosion away. Then you'll see what I'm talking about. I had to use a torch to heat it up on my friends to get it off.

Also your first picture is the perch that holds the factory spring. You don't need that anymore because your using qa1 springs and the shocks come with two jam nuts that the qa1 spring rests on.

I hate to say this but you have torn the center out of the rubber mount on both shocks. It is common on these cars. You will need to go to the dealer and get the UPPER shock mount assembly for both sides. Then reinstall your QA1s and everything will be fine.

MadMan: I was curious if those rubbermounts would be shot. Just by looking at them, they look alright, but I will end replacing I guess. By "upper shock assembly" U mean the rubber bushings correct? Also, the bottoms should be fine, right? And the upper ones are my problem?

Smokeum99TA: I will try and get those spacers off and put them in there and do the upper bushings that MADMAN said to replace.

I got my friend over at my house right now looking at your pictures and he agrees that the spacer is still on your old shocks. We got one side off with penetrating oil and the other with alot of heat. It isn't very easy but it will fix your problem.hope this helps, good luck.
