Default Manual Brake Booster

Ok I tried this in the brake section adn got one response so hopin you guys can help me out a bit more. Wat master cylinder is everyone using when going over to a manual brake setup? I know Billingsley makes one but are there any other options? I thought I saw somewhere that some people were using the strange one? Is Billingsley using the strange one? If so do I just need the master or do I need to get/make some kind of an adapter plate?

We use the Billingsley setup ... save your time and money and go with that. I think you will need an adapter plate to mount it if you do not go with Billingsley's.

BTW, there is no booster with manual brake, boosters are for power brakes.

According to Billingsley's site, the master cylinder is made by Strange, here:

Eliminates Power Brake Booster
Bolts Into Existing Holes in Firewall
Includes Strange Master Cylinder, Firewall Adaptor Block, & Mounting Hardware
Provides Proper Pressure/Volume for Aftermarket 4-piston Brake Kits
Brake Lines must be Fabricated for use with this Kit

The aluminum adapter block is worth the money. The actual master cylinder is pretty cheap. Make sure you have a good strong drill and sharp bit too...you'll need it to go through the pedal arm.

Anyone know what the part number is for the master cyl.? And what drilling is going to be needed for the manual brake setup? I always thought it was a bolt in tihng? or is something else needed (besides the obvious brake lines)

The angle for the manual brake master cylinder is slightly different from the OE. You will need to relocate the pivot hole on the brake pedal 1" higher than OEM, to avoid having the brake rod bind when depressed.

Buy the kit from Billingsley, its only $199. It will come with the Strange master cylinder, firewall adapter block, and mounting hardware and be done with it. I'm sure it'll come with detailed instructions. I'm sure if you catch them at the right time, they'll be on sale as they run sales frequently. That's what I'll be buying.

Or, you get save $50 and buy it from another place (that isn't a sponsor). Billinglsey and Madman aren't the only guys who sell race parts...

I was just wondering who else sells/makes the adapter block for the firewall if I was to purchase the master cylinder seperately. I get good deals on Strange products from a sponsor here on the board. I figured the block was something that Billingsley made in house. Depending on cost, I might just get the master cylinder from my source and then buy the block from Billingsley if they're the only ones who sell it.

Even if Billingsley is not the only one who sells it, you won't find that much of a better deal after hours of searching.. and plus Billingsley does a lot for the community as well and is a pretty big innovator for the f-body drag market.

Support him man. Don't be such a cheap ***. His company and Madmans definately do a lot for the f-body drag racing community.
