Default 15x8's or 15x10's for the track?

I have a set of 26" et streets on salad shooters now. And when on the juice, I run out of gear of course.

So I want to get a set of 28"s for next season. I bought a set of 15x10's with 7.5 back spacing for a really good price from another member. But when putting them up on there, they seem to be to wide. It looks like they are going to hit the bump stop and inner fender well.
I wanted to run a 28x11.5x15 tire.

Should I have got a 8" wheel or will this 10 work with little modifying?

I was orginally going to get a draglite xp because they come in 16". And I would not even have to grind the brakes down. But they are very price$$.

What should I do?

I got spacers with it, but if I use them I will have to put longer studs in the axles, right?
And then I think the will rub the outer quarter pnl lip. So it would need jacked up in the rear for this not to happen.??

You don't need spacers. You need longer studs no matter what with welds. The 12mm stud needs to stick out past the washer for the lugnut at least 12mm to be legal. For a 1/2 stud it needs to be 1/2inch past the washer.
Most people only use the spacers to limit the amount of grinding on the calipers. I used .25inch spacers on my 15x10's with 3.25 inch ARP studs.

i cut off my bump stops mounts and beat the ever living crap out of the inner fender well and outer fender lip. But i have SUPER clearance. i would beat the crap out of it then put the 28x10.5x15 ET Drags on ang so do a bunch of U turns with the slicks at 12 PSI and then beat everywhere they would rub untill they stopped rubbing. Took a good WHOLE day.

Why not run a 28x10.5x15 on a 8" rim? It seems like a 10 would be to wide for a 10.5 tire?????

go with the 10"!!! I took a plasma cutter and cut the bump stops out and hammered the fender well in a little. You will be happeir with the 10" rims vs the 8" ones. I have 7" backspaceing and they fit perfect.

You are at a crossroads, let's look at each solution, pro's and con's:

XP's
-As heavy as stock... 22-23 lbs.
-No clearance required for 16x8's or 16x9's
-Look cool, but the faces are not as hmm ridged as the regular draglites, but nobody notices

15x8's
-Some grinding, and spacers can work, can get by
http://psj.ls1tech.com/gallery/main....&g2_itemId=334

15x10's
-Require more grinding, and you have to BFH the fender well, and at least bend the bump stops back or cut them off... car is now getting cut up...

http://psj.ls1tech.com/gallery/main....&g2_itemId=242

Summary:
If you want to keep the car very nice, and only race on 28's once in a while, maybe look for a set of 16x8 or 16x9 Draglite XP's.

Oh, I ran 16x9 XP's, 6.5 backspacing, with 26x11.5x16 ET Streets in 2000.

My 15x10 Draglite XP's fit just fine with a tiny 26x10.5 tire, no cutting, grinding or hammering of anything. Haven't tried fitting 28's yet but I need to

Weld doesn't make a 15x10 XP. and i'm sure if you didn't have to cut or hammer your running a spacer.

Yeah, ok, you're right. I have no idea what I bought and have on my own car...

Defined "didn't used to"? These wheels were purchased about 4-5 years ago.

Heavy That's the biggest drawback. I haven't weighed them to compare, but it feels almost as heavy as a stock wheel with the 26x10.5 ET street on there. BUT, if you want a set of wheels that is a true "bolt on and go" they work fine.
