Default Super light weight Kirkeys!

sorry about the shitty pics. i took some with my digi cam but left my USB at the apt.
I did all this with my old trusty friend Mr. 3" hole saw and his little friend Mr. 2" holesaw.
I tried weighing them but the scale I used is probably older than me.
I got 13 lbs before and 6 lbs after (WITH the seat bracket and seat brace). For a total of 7 lbs reduction off the seat. When i get around to doing the passenger it should be about 14 lbs for both. I also welded the aluminum brackets and rear seat brace to the seat so i could remove the steel bolts, washers and nuts.
It took me about a good 3 hours to do and semi deburr it. i still need to buy a 1" hole saw to finish it up.
BTW the pass seat looks a little wider cause its a 17" and the driver seat is 16" i'll post the better quality pics tomorrow.

That looks extremely light but at the same time it doesn't look like it would hold up in an accident not that I hope you get in one or anything like that.

Sux, you should just grab a couple coat hangers, bend them to match the perimeter of the seat and velcro them in, it'd be lighter
Actually the seat bottom I could do, and maybe some of the headrest, and a couple here and there, but the picture spells "loss of integrity." Have you sat in it and tried seeing if it will flex easier? Does look nice though.

Ask MADMAN about the seats. i got the idea from Sean Freese's car and he said MADMAN did his.

i just sat in it and STOOD on the brake and it felt EXACTLY the same as before. ALL the force, like from a launch, is put on your shooulders and thats where my rear brace is. This would be EXTREMELY dangerous i didn't have that brace.

BTW Sean runs mid 8's i think. pullin high 1.2 60's.

You are close in my design. You left some on the table with the larger hole saw. I do mine with only a 1 1/2 saw and they can go lighter without loosing rigidity.

Hell it was a bitch enuff with using the 3" and 2". It woulda taken even longer with the 1.5".
But yeah ever since i saw Seans seats i wanted to do mine. i finally got off my lazy *** and did the driver side. Now lets see if i ever do the passenger side.

BTW: thanx for the idea.

Good info, if I ever get off my lazy *** I might get me a seat, then I'll have to stay off it so I can hole-it out.

IMO he will find out in a bad way if it is safe if his car ever ends up in a flip/rollover situation, in that situation your seat the belts and the way they are mounted in the car are THE most important thing in the car to save your life. Lets see here..my life or limb vs 5 pounds of weight...hmmm 5 pounds aint bothering me one bit. Kirkey ENGINEERED the seat the way it is for max safety..I would tend to leave it that way..but hey thats just me. To each his own.

I know it looks REALLY flimsy. but its not guys. besides i got the idea from MADMAN and i think he knows a thing or two about structural rigidity.
