Default How about a $1000 recipe? Come on in.......

I'd like some input from the ones that have done something similar......... if you had a completely stock '98-'02 LS1 F-body with an A4, and $1000 for mods to go drag racing, what would you spend it on?

No nitrous, E.T. Streets already on the car, otherwise 100% stock....... Also, this is an NHRA Edition so it has a 3.23 gear already.

Please list your recipe, the cost for parts only (totalling $1000 or close), and how quick you think it could go.

No weight reduction other than removal of spare tire and front sway bar- this is a daily driving street car- not a gutted race car.

New part prices only please, nothing used in our $1000 budget.

Stall, lid, cutout, have someone port and polish your TB, should be able to get some 3.73's installed also.

Um....thats what I meant...a cut out, but just port your own tb. Then you have more scratch for things you cant do on your own.

just buy a magnaflow muffler or something ($100), buying hte entire catback is a waste. have an exhaust shop make you an ORY with it and your set. you can probably find cheaper than 200$ for 3.73's too.
i'd go....
pacesetter LT headers..400$ coated 200$ uncoated..
lid...75$ ish on ebay....
stall....$400
muffler...$100..

Don't forget the installation prices if you're not doing the installs yourself.

All work will be done here, so no labor costs need to be included. Only new prices figured in the equasions please....... no used prices........... and no gutting interiors or weight reductions past removing front sway bar and spare tire and jack......... I don't want this project to take on a "ricey" approach.......

Weight reduction in the correct way is not ricey. The lighter a car is, the easier it is on parts

That's obvious, but this project will not include any compromises to the vehicles comfort, integrity, or structure.

Everyone has their own opinion, but to me, when you gut the interior of a perfectly good street car, that's ricey. Everyone has a line they won't cross in search of E.T., and I have no interest in gutting the interior out in search of .10-.15............. not in the plan here, never will be.

4500+ stall-$400 from fuddle or some used brand
4.11 gears -$100 used
TRex cam and install ****- $500 bucks

Lose the spare, jack, carpet, back seat, passenger seat, door panels, dash, center console, front and rear bumper supports, washer resevoir, ac, p/s, heater, speakers, sway bar, abs, run donut tires up front, 1/10th a tank of gas, wash your car before you go, where lightweight clothes, shave your head and take a **** before you go to the track.

I'd say you'd touch the 10s, or get damn close.

I don't think comfort or vehicle integrity belongs anywhere near a drag car.
