My firends SS keeps up with me and i have 4.11 gears whats wrong
I have a 2001 formula M6 with a lid, filter, fast 78mm TB, 25% underdrive pully, Borla y pipe, corsa exhaust, and a moser 12 bolt with 4.11 gears. My Buddy has a 2002 Camaro SS M6 with a lid, filter, shorty headers, and slp LM exhaust. We raced the other day from a 25mph roll three times and I could not pull on his SS he was next to me the whole time we were dead even all three times. I dont get it I sould be pullin on him what could be wrong.

Well my car has 56,000 miles on it and it does have the stock clutch I dont know how the original owner drove it. My buddy bought his SS new from the dealer back in 02 so he knows everything about his car. The clutch does feel like it silps some times.

check your throttle cable. Make sure when the pedal is 100% that your blade is coming all the way open (takes two people or one and a heavy brick to check, lol)
I had a cammed LS1 cutting 13.0 1/4's until I realized that I was only getting about 78% (from a scan) throttle because I messed up the cable adjustment when I had done some motor work

your gears should help out more than shorty headers. he might be getting 5-10 hp from those, but with your gearing you should be much quicker from a roll or a dig. actually a dig would be worse for you with those low gears you probably will have a worse launch than him.

This was one of the first things i checked and it does open all the way.
Well from a dig i can get about a car on him and hold him off the whole time.
Well i just ordered a new LS7 clutch and LS2 flywheel but that is heavier than stock how is the clutch going to affecect me more hp loss.

A heavier clutch will exert more rolling mass when you drop the clutch. so equaling more weight on the launch.
lighter is not always better in some cases. Think about it for a second.
