Well, I'm taking my MS3 cam-only SS on Saturday for a dyno tune, then on Sunday for a track rental where I hope to get in some serious testing/tuning.
The car has the following parts:
I won't be getting my ProStars for ~another month. I appreciate all your suggestions/tips/tricks on getting this thing out of the hole in a hurry. Thanks in advance guys!

I have pretty much the same setup as you have.
I'm running 17"ET streets..12bolt all the suspension stuff. I also have Hals all the way around w/the rear swaybar.
5000 dumps = 1.56 60ft...anything under 5000 it bogs
Its a 98 bolton car w/Trex cam w/stock 98 heads. Tuned by Creech SD.

put down 420 at creechs shop, so its dead hooking.
Between 9-11 psi. Anything under 5000 it bogs out the hole and a .10 slower in the 60ft.

i've got the ET street radials, i'm not real impressed. they hook ok, but with the way everyone talked them up i was hoping for more.
btw, i have all BMR suspension (LCA's, extreme duty trak pak TA, relocation brackets) and stock shocks and springs.
the radials just can not take the initial hit from the clutch, after that they're great, i just can't for the life of me get them to bite off of the line.

Well according to your sig you can't even hook a slick so your opinion is nil. Not bashing. I 60' better with 16" MT ET street radials and much less power and mods than you. 1.65 on stock clutch, springs, shocks, PHR, 10 bolt and many others.

Well, to answer my question: No, the 17s would not hook. The best 60' I could net was 1.7xx, all leading up to an astounding 8.1 sec pass @ 87.xx mph.
Time for some 15s...

Drag radials are not really as good on manual trans cars as automatics, as far as what I've heard from most racers and reps at M/T.
My 275/60/15's work great, 1.512 60 foot this past Saturday.

it does hook, 1.68 was spinning the slicks through the 60' mark, 2nd run ever with the new setup...
next run, lower air pressure to 12 psi, hooked, twisted driveshaft in two and sheered off torque arm. the car has cut low 1.6's with the stock clutch on ET streets.
no need to be an *** dude
anyway, all i was saying, was these tires are hyped to be just as good or better than the bias-ply ET streets. i did not find that to be the case. they may hook good for a radial, but i don't believe (on most street cars) these will hook any where near a true slick. JMO

that is the problem i've found with the ET Street radials, they cannot take the initial shock from the clutch drop (that is if you have a real clutch in the car). that is where the bias ply tire is superior, IMO.
i've raced with both, and the stock clutch just slips and slips with a sticky and a clutch dump, almost like having a stall convertor

If you could read you would see I said not bashing. And I said according to your sig since I do not know your best 60' or with what tire. So, way to fly off the handle. I never said my sig was impressive. But I have cut 1.65 on a 16" ET street radial in a nearly stock car. So either your car is 4klbs or you need practice out of the hole. I have yet to get the new set-up to the track. Once I get some shakedown passes we will see how weak my sig is. Heaven forbid people get constructive criticism on this site.

I agree that a bias ply is better for all out drag racing, but some like a DR to drive on the street. Once my DRs are done I am going bias ply. Car only gets maybe 3k miles a year.

anytime you have to say, "i'm not bashing", you probably are. just food for thought.
like saying, i'm not trying to upset you, but you're fat.
and yes, my car with me in it is probably very well near 4k, and it doesn't take a genious to side step a clutch off of the line. rev it up, let go of clutch, hope everything holds together.
i am no where near flying off the handle yet, i need a 12-pack in me for that. just clarifying what the setup was.
it's all good man
