Default need advice on Spohn solids!!!!(long read)

well after reading up on solid mounts i decided to give them a try.after 8 hours of pure hell i start the car only to find that the exhaust is pinned on the floor(real bad vibrations).so out comes the torch and prybar for a little massaging.now the exhaust is clear but i still have a pretty good vibration that seems to be loudest between 2400 and 2800 rpms.when looking at the oil pan it seems like the motor is crooked to the k-member.i called spohn to verify that they were in right and they are and aren't adjustable.it looks like about 1/2 inch difference from driver side to passenger side.is this a true measurement point of the motor being square?if so how can it be corrected?any help would be great,it is driving me nuts.i really don't want to put the stockers back in but i can't take the way it sounds.thanks in advance

I ran the Spohn mounts for a year and had no issues with the block cracking. Yes for a daily driver it may not be recommended, but compared to other solid motor mounts they're not the ones to necessarily worry about cracking the block per se. Harlan's block did crack and after comparing the solid motor mounts that he had with the ones that Spohn makes we know why the block cracked. We put solid motor mounts in the white Formula from last year and a couple other cars. No cracked blocks.

As far as the normal motor location, it's a bit off kilter in the car stock. I don't think that the Spohn mounts correct that at all since they should be the same install height as the stock setup. What K-member are you running?

i still have the stock k-member.i am worried that the vibration is from the motor being on a tilt.is there any way to check to see if it is square in the chasis?

The vibration is somewhat normal. There's absolutely physically no harmonic isolation anywhere with solid mounts. You'll feel it in the steering wheel, your pedals and even your seat. Now if the vibration is cause by a loose bolt or something else, that's a bit different. Otherwise the orientation of the motor itself will not generate significant levels of vibration by itself.

just 1 more question, will a trans mounted torque arm make more vibration than a tunnel mounted one?

Well assuming you are running a poly trans mount (which you should if you're running solids) you will feel more vibration no matter what because the tranny will have very little isolation from the rest of the car now.

FWIW, I have been running the solids on my DD for two years now.

My car has always had a weird vibration from aroun 1600-2000 rpms ever since I did the cam install. I have tried for the life of me to figure it out but cant. The solids did amplify it a little more, but after driving with them, i will never build another car without them. You feel really connected to the car (it may sound stupid but it's the truth). Hope this helps.
