Unhappy Weld Wheels - Bankrupt!

This news sucks to hear, but some of you diehard Weld fans should know about it. How this affects future wheels and pricing, nobody knows.

Weld was the ****.

On a good note,

Check the new summit mag. Summit makes a wheel EXACTLY like the prostar for like $40 cheaper.

All you have to do is swap out the center caps if you still want to represent WELD.

Tony.

Might not be made as nice as the Weld ones, but just a thought as I see stuff copied everyday and some are as nice as the originals, while some are ****.

Looks like American Racing will have more to offer shortly, which is cool as the company I work for deals directly with American Racing

Sucks. I wish I had the cash to order mine right now before American Racing hikes their prices.

Jegs was probably able to get the design off Welds because of the pending bankruptcy. Weld probably sold the design to make a few $ before the bankruptcy.

Bad thing about the Jegs wheels is there 15X10 only has a backspacing up to 4.5". Maybe they'll bring out the 5.5" backspacing now. If they do those wheels will probably be good for the budget minded weekend racers (most of us.)

Interesting, the only things that are worth more then what I paid for on this car is the Bogarts and AMW catch can - and now maybe the new set of prostars I have laying here lol.

Its a shame, but chapter 11 doesnt mean out of business. They may reorganize and come back under a different name or produce 'house' brands. Never know..

I worked for a lumber yard that had gone chapter 11 like 3 times...

All it means is a reorganization, I seriously doubt they'll quit making wheels. There'll be somebody along that will recognize the good investment and come in with a better business strategy for the existing company

It's probably because most of the wheels today are coming out of China. The GM, Ford, etc. are getting almost 100% of its aluminum wheels out of China...Amcast in Indiana was one of the last, and now they are gone as of this spring.

I hope Holeshot, Bogart, and the remaining hardcore racing wheel places can stay afloat. Bummer.

That was Weld's problem, they sunk a lot of money into importing from China and it just didn't pan out...

What I hope is that the other big companies realize the grass isn't that greener and take it back here before they get hurt, too

Said when a company with that much sales and that much in assets goes CH11, must have been poorly run.

It takes a businessman to run a business, and a craftsman to build the parts...

Too bad people are rarely both

I sure hope the alumastars/magnums stay in production somehow, if not I'm just going to bite the bullet and buy them now to make sure I have some. This is a shame.
