Default life sucks...money spent on mods, but no e.t gain.

so...last year i had 346ci-afr 205 heads,g5x3 cam,kooks 1 3/4,ud pullies,ls6 intake suspenchion mods 12/bolt w/4.11's 26x11.5x15 cheeter slick.434hp 390tq mustang dyno. best e.t 11.15 @ 124.2mph 1.50 60 foot.
so...i add a fast 90 intake with n/k 90mm th-body,g5x4 cam, bmr light k-member & a-arms and the bmr drag bar. car now made 463ho 414tq(same dyno) i went to the track yesterday, good cool day and only got 11.12 @ 125.7mph 1.44 60 foot.my best 60 of the day was 1.42,but i only got 11.16 @ 124mph on that run. i gained near 30hp,spent $2,500 to get nothing. i have no roll cage so i only got 3 runs. by the way....the bmr unit is great, really stiffens the car and on the street it's quiet. well,i hope my new 402ci for next year will get me 10's on motor.if not i'll drive the car off a cliff.

60 ft picked up nice. Not a total waste, but yeah, that does kind of suck that your times didn't really change any.

With the fast 90 and g5x4 you should be shiffing higher 7,200 to 7,400 rpm, what was your cam before and what rpm are you shifting at?

LOL, I spent around 7K on safety, fuel system, cam, exhaust and engine management stuff this year and ran .14 and .2mph quicker in the 1/4. Granted the car is around 150lbs heavier now but still

Thats drag racing..

SLICKVERT- cam before was g5x3,and i was shifting at 6,600. the x3 cam peaked at 6,400rpm's. with the x4 cam i shift around 6,800,it peaked at 6,500rpm's. i was told to shift about 200 to 300 rpm's past the cams peak power. the 60 foot is nice for a 3,700lbs car w/me in it(i weigh 220lbs)
K/P- i thought i had it bad with the $$$ i spent.
PROSTOCK- you're right, the x4 cam was not worth the swap and i should of kept the x3 cam.
i now have a 402ci comming and hope at the same weight it will get me to 10.7's.

I'm not complaining really, most of the money I spent was parts to keep the car together longer and make it safer. Its just frustrating to spend that kind of money and do all that work and not go any faster - whether its for power producing parts or not

Not every move you make will be the correct one, especially with cars. Learning from mistakes = good experience that will pay off in future decisions.

Same weather conditions? Your 60' and mph are definately 10 second material. That's an awesome 60' for that m6. Something seems off, what's your 8th mile times?

Try shifting it higher, like 7000, or 500 RPM above your peak. 200-300 RPM above peak is way too conservative.

damn, 102 in the 1/8? thats should be around 130mph. at least it is in my setup.

it does look like you picked up 1.5mph and quite a bit 60'. seems pretty odd your 1/4 didn't come down by .2

Sounds like me the end of last year.

New TH400, 3800 stall 10", new driveshaft, narrow rearend to fit 28 x 10.5 tires, Cal Tracs and shocks.....

All for a transbrake button and a tenth SLOWER!

Oh well, your mph is up, air might have something to do with it?

I'm with Derek. I'd bet my bottom dollar that the DA was higher.

Nice avatar Derek. -Mark

VILLIAN281H-i feel your pain. spending money w/no gain blows. it sucks because i gained all over the power band and from 3,500 to 5,000rpm's i was up 33hp 16lbq tq. i made near 30hp on the topend and nothing,it must be the DA.
RGR PETE- with my luck the 402ci would only gain me .1 & 1mph in the 1/4 i still need to decide on what heads to use for the 402ci,afr 225's or the new tfs 225 head? more reasearch i guess. be cool guys.
